They really expect people to buy this "trickle-down" bullshit once again?

Do they want to know why we have this $20 trillion dollar debt?

Because of "trickle-down bullshit" that did not increase revenues the way they promised. It didn't ahppen under Reagan, when the debt skyrocketed. And it didn't happen under GWBush when the debt exploded once again.

It ain't gonna happen this time either.

How many times are Americans going to buy this con game?

He has destroyed education from pre-K through college. Businesses are closing down right and left because people can no longer afford to go out to eat or shop. I don't even think the Kansas right's "base," farmers, are doing that well.

. . . this long-debunked myth will continue to proliferate in the American narrative.

Put it this way: Suppose that you actually liked a caste society, and you were seeking ways to use your control of the government to further entrench the advantages of the haves against the have-nots. What would you do?

One thing you would definitely do is get rid of the estate tax, so that large fortunes can be passed on to the next generation. More broadly, you would seek to reduce tax rates both on corporate profits and on unearned income such as dividends and capital gains, so that those with large accumulated or inherited wealth could more easily accumulate even more. You’d also try to create tax shelters mainly useful for the rich. And more broadly still, you’d try to reduce tax rates on people with high incomes, shifting the burden to the payroll tax and other revenue sources that bear most heavily on people with lower incomes.

Meanwhile, on the spending side, you’d cut back on healthcare for the poor, on the quality of public education and on state aid for higher education. This would make it more difficult for people with low incomes to climb out of their difficulties and acquire the education essential to upward mobility in the modern economy.

And just to close off as many routes to upward mobility as possible, you’d do everything possible to break the power of unions, and you’d privatize government functions so that well-paid civil servants could be replaced with poorly paid private employees.

The details and circumstances of the federal debt are vaporized as quickly as a kindergartener's etch-a-sketch, replaced with "liberal deficit spending" and "conservative fiscal integrity". The sheep eat up the talking points and vote accordingly, content that they are safeguarding their kids and grandchildren's futures, while their elected representatives perpetuate the smoke and mirrors, once dubbed "Voodoo Economics".

But I also don't think that the elected representatives of capital CARE that people aren't buying it. This is what their owners want, so this is what's going to happen.

And nothing will change that dynamic until we have massive, militant, and TRUE resistance in the streets and workplaces. Until we become truly ungovernable and interrupt the profit chain, they'll do what they want and not give a fuck whether anybody supports it or believes it or not.

that if their cuts do not pan out the way they promise, the tax rates will increase for the wealthy once Democrats are in power. They should not be fearful of raising taxes on the billionaires.

even if they win a veto-proof majority. At least not substantially. Even Obama's tax hikes were in the neighborhood of only 4% I believe. Dems don't really want to substantially rock the donations boat either.

since I believe in expropriation of the wealth and assets of people who have WAY too much until we're able equalize wealth inequality to the point where nobody is in need.

I guess this post will be alerted on and hidden now. But it IS how I feel.
