Person 1's second line is obviously a clarification of their first line, because Person 2 foolishly takes "no one" as a literal statement meaning "absolutely not one person" instead of the figurative and colloquial meaning that every non-silly person is easily able to infer.

Consider:
Person 1: "No one likes salted caramel flavored Pepsi."

Person 1: "I do."

Person 1: "Like I said, no one with any taste likes salted caramel flavored Pepsi."

The larger point in the thread is that no one of any consequence has called for Franken to resign, DU's anger and disappointment notwithstanding.

"No one" in this context is figurative language used to make a rhetorical point, and this device is nearly universal in discourse among functional adults.


That's the extent of the time that I care to spend in explaining this basic element of human communication to you.
