I am old enough to remember "60 Minutes" in the 70s, with legendary Mike Wallace

when businesses and politicians would try to leave town when they've heard they were visiting.

But what would strike me was when Wallace eviscerated a crooked politician, the support at home never wavered. The voters literally circled the wagons against outsiders casing aspersion on the hometown boy (or girl, not often then..)

I was reminded of this with Moore, now. Seems that the voters in Alabama bristle at the intervention from outsiders: media, "Washington establishment" and others.

And therefore we read that his support is still intact and he probably will be elected.

Unfortunately, one of the unintended consequences of 60 minutes is that the networks figured out that you could make money with news programs. That began the "news as entertainment" concept which has unfortunately morphed into what we have today, including everything from Entertainment Tonight to Fox News.
