right up until the 1960s...

but by the 1970s and 1980s - 30+ (or even 20+) men trying to date 14 year olds was NOT acceptable.

It was a function of women dying in childbirth more than anything else I think.

A woman would die leaving the man with five kids and a fulltime job. He would quickly remarry, often with someone much younger, 16-18 was the norm.

At home the 16 year old girl was taking care of her two year old brother, so getting married didn't seem like the worst idea.

Those days were long gone by the time Moore was trolling malls.

I think these Alabamans have edited the past. From what I recall when talking to guys of that generation, thirty year-olds fooling around with fourteen to sixteen year-old girls was considered so aberrant that fathers and older brothers could gang up and beat up such lechers with baseball bats, and the law wouldn’t say boo.

that is wrong. Both women confirm that in their personal experience, it was common for men to molest young girls. One woman said a mean teacher might touch her inappropriately, but they couldn't do anything. They seem to agree it was wrong to be touched by older men, but they didn't say anything because they "always did what men said" and because they were "underdogs", in other words, men had all the power.

I can't tell if they now think the behavior is acceptable. It seems for 90% of the video like both women think it was wrong. Then, one woman says she's still voting for him.

When asked why, she says "it's not proven?" How is she supposed to prove what those teachers did to her?

Girls, it's time to put on our bodycams. You have to prove those mean teachers are fondling young school girls.

When Moore was going after teenage girls, it was not considered normal. I was a teenage girl in Alabama in the late 1970's and early 1980's. I can assure you that the malls were not full of men in their 30's trying to pick up high school girls.

It was not normal. If it was a 32 year old mechanic doing what Moore did, he would have been stopped. Moore got away with it and was allowed to continue because of his position and his connections.

It was considered creepy then and now. Otherwise, he souldn't have been banned from the mall.

I remember, too.
