of something you didn't do
It just seems so easy to accuse somebody of something and there are people ready to believe without even questioning of it
for the record can't recall being accused of something I didn't do but I do know just because it hasn't happened to me doesn't mean it didn't happen to someone else
It's a long story and I won't get into the details, but it's difficult when people won't believe the truth, particularly when the person accusing me has spread the story far and wide.
Not pretty.

(42,757 posts)The ex told stories to friends and coworkers that I know they still believe.
I say piss on em if they choose to believe the worst they hear about someone.

(3,608 posts)Of course I didn't do that - he was 5 or 6. Turned out it was some kid around the block.. but for some reason he blamed me. It was horrifying being blamed for something like that that I did not do ....wouldn't even think to do. I felt nobody believed me...thank goodness we got down to the truth but what if we hadn't?
When I was 17 I got a job at Carvel and soon thereafter they accused me of stealing. Now I was not but I knew who was but I was afraid to say anything as I had just started. To top it off the girl stealing was the high school principal's daughter. So they had a meeting and fired me a few days later saying it was poor performance and I said that's bullshit it's because you think I'm the thief well the thief is still in your midst...GOODBYE.
I'm sure there are many more examples but those two come to mind.

(25,941 posts)I was recounting a story about a family reunion to some coworkers in the break room. A young male cousin had just gotten his ear pierced, prompting an uncle to ask, 'hey, boy, you get your titty pierced too?' A female coworker was within earshot and reported me to HR. After a couple of embarrassing rounds of retelling the tale and denying that I intended the tale to be heard by easily offended ears, I was cleared, but I always checked for an unintended audience afterward.
