first bonus season comes around, boss (already a managing director with all of about 4 years experience) gives a nice little lecture about how to manage money, hey bonus checks are nice, but we have good years and bad years, so don't count on anything, live on your salary as if you're not getting any bonus, then when you get a bonus, celebrate at a nice restaurant and maybe buy a small little something for yourself, but sock the bulk of it away.

ok, fine, sage advice, wisdom beyond his years.

the very day the bonus checks hit our bank accounts,
"hey, where's the boss?"
"oh, he's out buying a plane."
"*a what???*"
"an airplane. he's had his eye on one for a while now. $130,000."
"wait, this is the guy who said 'sock the bulk of it away'?"
yup, and trust me, he *is* socking the bulk of it away.

holy sh*t.

my bonus checks were certainly nice, but holy hell, nowhere close to that!
