No Democratic Congress people should resign

Have them finish their terms and let the voters decide whether they should stay or go. Rethugs never surrender, Vitter, Stanford, twitler and so many others.

I’m getting sick of our purity tests for Democrats. Franken and Conyers have done a lot for this country in holding twitler responsible for his crimes.

Although the power of counterexamples in the face of a belief is pretty much negative, there it is. Threat of removal led to self-removal.

Remember the discussion of replacing Moore on the ballot? Let's hypothesize that this is still what many would want. It's unattainable.

No, wait. It's completely practical. Just awkward.

If Moore wins, wait a few months and then have him resign.

Suddenly, respect for women.

Suddenly, new special election is called.

Suddenly, new GOP candidate.

No guarantee, of course. But it's a plausible route to a different outcome.

If they are guilty of any crimes or inappropriate behaviour, show me the proof, a video or twitter record would be helpful. Until that happens, I urge Democrats to stay in the office and serve US. Don't let anyone distract from Mueller's investigation. If he finds no wrong doing, I will accept his decision.

As a former resident of Michigan, there have been "rumours" floating about Conyers for decades. No proof, to my knowledge. I will not call it a witch hunt, for now.

If Franken resigns, a very, very liberal Democratic Governor picks his replacement and that person gets a leg up for reelection. If Franken clings on, the Governor seat comes up for election in 2018 with Democrats in Minnesota being weighed down by Franken, a republican likely win the Governor chair and when Franken finally gets forced out, that Gov appoint a republican, who gets inside track for reelection.

The two most recent women sound like activist Democrats based upon the functions that they were touched at, in the same fashion the second woman said that she was touched. I believe them.

Chris Lee (2011)
Tim Murphy (2017)

Democrats:
Eric Massa (2010)
Anthony Weiner (2011)
David Wu (2011)

There also are members of both parties who did not resign. In some instances they decided not to run for reelection; in other instances they ran and lost, and in a few instances they ran and won.

I'm thinking strategically for Democrats, it's better to have him resign, then the Dem governor appoints a Dem replacement (say, Keith Ellison- I'm just speculating here) who serves until the special election or until the term is up. Then whoever it is (hopefully Ellison) wins reelection. Otherwise, in 2020, we potentially lose the seat to an R.

I do still think any accuser needs to testify UNDER OATH. Period. Otherwise they are liars in my book.

If we demand people resign on anonymous accusations, we will have people resigning over being accused by bots. Meanwhile republicans just elect people accused of much worse and don't care one bit on how it looks.

In the next 6 months (if the past 9 months are an indicator) the American people and media will forget because there’s going to be a lot worst happening. Minnesota is a Democratic State and they are not trending rethug because of demographics. I don’t see them electing a rethug when Al Franken is up for re election.

From the Russian Troll monitoring dashboard (run by Clint Watts):
http://dashboard.securingdemocracy.org/

Between November 11 and November 17, we examined 55 articles that were among the top URLs shared by Kremlin-oriented accounts on Twitter. Over 40% of the URLs focused on sexual misconduct allegations; of those URLs, 42% attacked accused Democrats (or those connected to liberal causes), 4% promoted a narrative of a Saudi-linked pedophile ring, and 54% defended Roy Moore.
