3. Generally speaking, and with caucasians in particular, "holidays" tends to stand for

both Christmas and New Years. While my parents weren't against other cultures (hell, my mother grew up in a hugely diverse part of immigrant Boston during the 40's), it was only the "national" holidays that were talked about when I was growing up and it was Christmas and New Year once you got past Thanksgiving.

in people's windows. Putting decorations up is big production I see nothing wrong with starting early.
