Joe Barton, who apologized Wednesday for a lewd photo of him that circulated on the Internet, told a woman to whom he had sent sexually explicit photos, videos and messages that he would report her to the Capitol Police if she exposed his behavior, according to a recording reviewed by The Washington Post.
The woman spoke to The Post after the lewd photo was published Tuesday by an anonymous Twitter account. She shared a secretly recorded phone conversation she had with Barton in 2015 in which he warned her against using the explicit materials "in a way that would negatively affect my career."
The woman described encounters and contact spanning a five-year period that began online after she posted a message on Barton's Facebook page in 2011, leading to the sexually explicit exchanges and ultimately a pair of physical sexual encounters in Washington and Texas. Over time, she said, she became aware of and corresponded with multiple other women who engaged in relationships with Barton, who represents a suburban Dallas district and is one of the most senior Republicans in the House.

Ah, Republicans...
If they succumb to the lure of Venus,
Theyll blame it all on Bill Clintons (fill in the blank yourself).

Personal life
Barton was divorced from his first wife in 1992, remarried in 2002, and divorced from his second wife in 2015.[75][76] He has four children and five grandchildren.[15]
In December 2005, Barton suffered a heart attack and was taken to George Washington University Hospital.[77]
During a congressional hearing on video games, Barton said that he was a video game player, playing Civilization IV.[78]
Barton has been an advocate of a playoff system to determine a national champion for college football, even introducing legislation to require that any game being marketed as a national championship game be a part of a playoff.[79] On May 1, 2010, Barton grilled Bowl Championship Series coordinator John Swofford, saying of the BCS that, "It's like communism. You can't fix it." He also suggested that the 'C' be dropped from the BCS and it be called "the 'BS' system."[80]
In November 2017, nude selfie pictures of Barton surfaced online, which he acknowledged were authentic, and which he apologized for to his constituents.[81][82] He confirmed he took the photo himself, and sent it to women with whom he was pursuing relationships.[83] A Twitter user posted the photo of Barton who had pointed his camera upward from below his genitals, next to a text reading, I want you soo bad. Right now. Deep and hard.[84] While he has no plans to resign immediately, according to a spokeswoman,[85] a number of state and local politicians have indicated that they may challenge him in the 2018 elections.[86] Slate reported that Barton might be a victim of revenge porn, which is a class A misdemeanor in Texas, punishable by up to one year in county jail and up to a $4,000 fine.[87]
