I am not saying that God, the universe, Rihannayoncé or whoever you worship as a higher power is petty, but in one of the most hilarious twists of fate ever, Apples vice president of inclusion and diversity, Denise Young Smith, who once whitesplained how hiring 12 white, blond, blue-eyed men could actually be seen as promoting diversity, has been replaced.
By a blond, blue-eyed white woman.
Im not laughing. Thats how it sounds when I clear my throat.
In October, Young Smith was roundly criticized for her feeble attempt to change the definition of diversity when she told a group of international business leaders, There can be 12 white, blue-eyed, blond men in a room and theyre going to be diverse, too, because theyre going to bring a different life experience and life perspective to the conversation.

(35,601 posts)1. What a sexist and racist opinion piece.
The author apparently figures that women, including white women, are well represented throughout Apple and the tech industry in general, so diversity is a concern only for people like himself. He must have overlooked the horrible statistics and other evidence at Uber, the misogynist fired from Google, the evidence presented in Lean In, etc. etc.
His dissing of the incoming execs qualifications are belied with a one minute glance at her Linked In profile.

(1,473 posts)4. Some interesting stats:
At the leadership level, Apple is still predominantly run by men, who make up 71 percent of the leaders at the company worldwide. White people, meanwhile make up 66 percent of the leaders at Apple in the U.S. Meanwhile, only 3 percent of Apples leaders in the U.S. are are black, so Young Smiths departure wont do anything to help the amount of black representation at the top.

I found the piece to be neither racist or sexist.

Didn't they do some work with NASA or something?
