is nothing but a Capitalistic Orgasm. Fuck big business. I'd love to see a parade with floats of NFL Players kneeling, SPLP workers, community organizers etc

Notice the name?
MACY'S Parade.
That's right, a store in New York City.
I see lots of different parades in the news, and I attend a couple each year.
I don't like how politicians use public parades for promotions, but I'm not going to boycott all parades.

(33,580 posts)the OP gave a very apt description of it. Do you disagree.
Or is criticism no longer allowed?

(30 posts)an "apt description" of it. It's a tradition that's been on going for 93 years now...pretty much longer than most people have been alive. Dear god, is there anything some of you can find NOT to complain about. REALLY? On Thanksgiving no less. Yes the OP is absolutely and completely disgusting bullshit. Good grief, I been enjoying reading DU for a long time but it's posts like this that do make the left look like complete idiots.

(23,761 posts)from Capitalistic and conservative bullshit. This parade should be seen in the true context that it is: a giant orgasm of capitalism trying to get you in the mood to buy Christmas shit

(30 posts)with segregation. Really???? More unadulterated bullshit. Oh i'm sure when that Charlie Brown balloon went by it was just dripping with racism. Sorry but no, you don't get to somehow insist that all traditions are bad just because some actually were. I've been voting a straight Dem ticket for the past 33 years and this is literally the kind of shit....yes shit, that embarrasses our party to no end and drives voters away. Oh that evil Macy's! How dare they put on and sponsor a fun and much loved parade....we need to politicize it instead!

I know many people don't like dog shows, but I like seeing beautiful and well-cared-for animals.

(2,068 posts)The parade is for kids. Relax and try and remember when you were a kid and watched it. The parade had the same amount of corporate sponsorship and we all survived. "Get off my lawn".
I'm blessed and thankful that my children get to hear music and watch dancing and corny balloons rather than hear about uninvited tongues thrust down women's throats and Chinese jails-just for one day. Happy Thanksgiving.

(17,180 posts)I actually perform a small part of a public service. If EVERYONE wanted to see the parade in person, there wouldn't be enough portapotties!
Either way, there are probably more people watching the parade than watched the Rump Inauguration. Which makes him less popular than SpongeBob SquarePants.

(6,399 posts)How many of them are "commercial" like this one?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category arades_in_the_United_States
Very few I'd hazard a guess, and that's just the larger ones and not all the little ones and all the individual town ones.
But keep tilting at that windmill, cause you got a bone to pick and gotta puff yourself up with what you've done so you can crap all over what others enjoy.
Blue_Adept

Maybe that explains the occasional twitch. His handlers would try to make the balloon wave but it was a twitchy wave and somewhat unsettling.

(6,904 posts)Independence day, too. No one is forced to go to or watch any parade. They don't even force anyone to buy from Macy's.

We used to watch it when we were kids. My mom would make Pillsbury cinnamon rolls on Thanksgiving morning and we would watch the Macy's parade.
