1. I finally found the way to shut up a right-wing relative:

He's in his mid-seventies and spends his days and nights watching TV, mostly Fox.

I asked him if he was going to run for office. "No," he said.
Is he going to canvass the neighborhood to start a new grass roots PAC? No.
Is he going donate millions of dollars to a campaign? No.
Is he going to become a lobbyist? No.

So I finally got him to realize that he's in just a spectator and watches Fox ONLY for its entertainment value, and that nothing he thinks or believes makes any difference whatsoever in the real world. So now when he opens up about some new garbage he heard on Fix I ask him if he's heard the latest rumors about Miley Cyrus. When he says "who cares?" I reply, "Exactly."
