When some of them started to realize they had done things of similar - or worse - moral reprehensibility, they knew the longstanding repub tradition of eating their own meant they were doomed politically. I thing we'll see an unusually high number of resignations for personal reasons as collateral damage if they get rolling.

I think a lot of them have skeletons. I think this particular brand of populism will turn easily against them as stuff comes out. So either they genuflect in the general direction of taking down progressive Dems & go on with corruption as usual, or they go all in and inflict waaaay more damage on themselves.
