Email this demand to your representative and Senators regarding Social Security and Medicare

Last edited Fri Dec 8, 2017, 09:41 AM - Edit history (2)

Dear Congress Member,

I didn't realize Social Security and Medicare were entitlements.

I accidentally paid into them every paycheck over the last 40 years.
Please send me a check for a full refund plus interest before you consider cutting my benefits.

Signed,
66 million Americans.

But he decided teams of lawyers would get rich and we'd still get the shaft. Not to mention if the lawyers thought there was any traction in the idea it would have already been done.

As a former teacher in CA I am out of luck. CA is a SS "offset" state along with 12 others. I found out about this when I became a teacher and no one believed me until I produced evidence from the state in writing since it is so unbelievable. In CA if you ever worked and contributed to SS and have earned enough SS credits you are not going to receive SS benefits (actually you get about 15% of what you would get if you never went into teaching). Therefore all the jobs I had, outside of teaching, when I had SS taken out of my paychecks are null and void as far as SS goes. My SS money is gone and will be given to someone else who isn't a teacher in CA.

Social Security income because you've (we've) been paying into it whenever we've worked. These are earned benefits, and yes, we need to fight to keep our entitlements!

We are entitled to them.

Like everything else, republicans have twisted the meaning of something good into something evil.

So, that statement is misleading..
