Pelosi said to table the measure to impeach Trump

A couple of days, a small group of Dems in the House put up a bill to impeach Trump. Pelosi voted to table it, saying, "Now is not the time" to consider impeachment. She had also previously called Tom Steyer's impeachment ads "premature."

I sort of can buy into the "too soon" argument, since Mueller isn't through and is making headway. OTOH, if we have a President with a mental issue, and Congress isn't doing anything to protect the country and the world from it, shouldn't we do something? Plus, I suspect that it will never be a good time, in Pelosi and Schumer's opinion.

We may only get one shot at it and it needs to be the best it can be.

2. Impeachmnet, I'd say, almost never has a chance of passing. Until you force the issue.

It's a very unpopular thing to do.

But this is why we elect these people. To protect our interests and the interests of the country. No mealy mouth shrinking violets who will only vote for popular bills need apply.

They'd need GOP votes, and the Republicans are not about to commit political suicide just as we head into the midterms.

No doubt they are hoping that the Trump diehards will come out to vote next year in enough numbers to prevent too many losses. After that, Trump is expendable.

5. They get only one realistic shot at impeachment, so it has to be dead on.

8. So they will not propose it again, is what you're saying? Oh, and...it will NEVER pass for Trump.

This Congress is unlike any other in history. Half are corrupt and on the P/R of Russia and/or spies for Trump. They have let it be known that above all else, they put their own interests and those of their donors, even if it damages the country, even if it means being taken over by a foreign power.

No, the Republicans in this Congress will NEVER vote to impeach Trump. But it's the TRYING by the Democrats & Independents that matters. It must be recorded for history that at least an attempt was made to stop the President from unleashing a private army of his own against the world and their countrymen.

After the mid-terms, the Dems will have more in Congress, it seems...but it takes a lot of votes to impeach. I don't see that happening.

But no matter, is what you are saying, since we had one shot, and it was taken already? Well, at least that goes into the Congressional Record for historical recordation.

And at least someone tried to do something meaningful instead of going along to get along.

And, it's not like ANYTHING the Democrats put up will go anywhere in the current Congress, let alone Impeachment.

We need to wait for the right time, like when Mueller issues his report with all the indictments and unindicted co-conspirators listed. Then would be the right time. Right now, we'd get zero Republicans to vote for it. We are the minority party in Congress, after all.

Symbolic introduction of an impeachment resolution is not going to be effective.

So, yes, it's not yet time. Once one of their own is arrested and charged, their 'bought off' calculus will change.

Let's wait till Commander Bone Spur's starts a nuclear war with NK.

Let's wait till next year after 13 million people lose their health care insurance.

Lets wait till the republicans destroy social security, medicaid/medicare to pay for their Koch brothers BJ tax bill.

IOW, lets wait till democrats like me are either living in cardboard boxes under bridges or are a collection of radioactive dust floating around the world.

Fuck it! We got all the time in the damn world to call out the beast in the white house! (Well SOME people do)
