(4,341 posts)she is the author of the fiasco, and Sanders should have kept his mouth shut, and may have if Gillibrand had not gone public the way she did.
Besides the fact that trump is a low-class slimy individual, Gillibrand has done a lot of damage to her career and the Democratic party, not sure what she had in mind but it has certainly backfired.
I am not happy with Sanders opening his mouth about it, but as an author (Gillibrand) you get the praise or the criticism. Just because it didn't go as she planned doesn't mean she should share the failure, I am sure she would be rejoicing in the success if it had worked as planned.

The only thing I can suggest is that people who go on TV to condemn Trump's words should also bring up the tax scam, net neutrality, etc. We have to start being strategic about this. How does "crooked Hillary" morph into "Crooked-USED" and how does Gillibrand's attack on Trump have anything at all to do with the Clintons? That's my opinion, anyway. We all know that anyone who dares to openly criticize him can expect a foul, personal vindictive tweet from him. He's easy to play that way.
But I will never vote for her.

(37,648 posts)That's established. He never lets a slight go by. No one is too small for him to tweet about vindictively, whether it's a union worker or an NFL player or a Senator.
We're not naive. We all know that. You wanna get a personal vindictive tweet? Say something or do something publicly against him...and you'll get it. That's what he does every...single....day. He gets even via tweets.
She knew that. So...mission accomplished. Her name is out there, more people know the name...and that's the name of the game.
I'm not saying that's a terrible strategy. It did what it was supposed to do, so it was successful. If a Senator doesn't get a nasty tweet from Trump, that Senator ain't doin' much. Franken certainly got his share of nasty Trump tweets.
Enoki33

Before they (Al first, then Rachel)(Acturally, Mike Malloy was First) came to the FM (I dont think the AM channels) all we had was the extreme of the extreme right wing nuts yelling all over AM radio. I had no other choice but to listen and yell at the radio. I was an over-the-road truck driver from 92 till 2009. Out west there were no FM reception, especially at night. (5,810 posts)That this will NOT be the straw that breaks the camels back. tRump just keeps on doing more and more outrageous things and nothing happens. We get angry and predict his demise and then get kicked in the ass one more time. So I am not taking the bait any more. We may WANT this nightmare to end but nothing tRump has said or done so far has brought it to a close. There seem to be forces at work here that we are not taking into consideration.
All things being equal, tRump should have never made it out of the primaries. But he prevailed. He tripped up all through the campaign and things from his past came back to haunt him. And yet, he is the President of the USA. All the things we thought would eliminate him evaporated or got swept under the rug.
So now we wait on Mueller to finally get the goods on him, if he is allowed to complete his investigation. I, for one, will believe he will be drummed out of office when I see it. I am tired of being lured into believing that the right thing will happen, for once. And then get kicked in the teeth (and other places). We are in different territory now. My fingers are crossed that at some point soon this nightmare will be over. But tRump doing one bad thing too many does not seem to Be the thing that will finally get him out of the Oval Office. 😞
I think he could do a pay per view eating a toddler on tv and still skate.
