I hope this is the right place to ask these questions

Does congress get money to travel back to their districts??

If they claim homestead in another state does that disqualify then to run in another state??

The reason I ask is that Cravaak from district-8 in Minnesota has now bought a home in New Hampshire.

Or the state you represent if you're a senator. You technically have to live there by law but few actually do.

What I am trying to figure out if you can homestead in another state and just keep an apartment in the district or state you are running in.

That's the technicality. You have to have a residence in the district/state that is supposed to be your primary residence but many just keep an address there and live somewhere else.

That's one of the reasons Rick Santorum got crushed in his last PA election. He had an empty house he was claiming as his residence while living in Virginia. People didn't like that very much.
