Tonight our Amnesty group wrote letters re the Saudi floggings.
Raif Badawi, a Saudi Arabian blogger and prisoner of conscience has a huge sentence of many parts including 1,000 lashes. The lashes are to be delivered at the rate of 50 lashes per session once a week. He has received the first set of 50 lashes. Now he will get 50 lashes each of the next 19 weeks.
Please call the Saudi Arabia embassy in D.C. 1.202.342-3800 and ask that the flogging stop.
Or send an email to info@saudiembassy.net and ask that the flogging stop.
And if you can spring for an international stamp, send a letter asking the flogging to stop.

In this day and age in a mostly modern kingdom, flogging is barbaric and in this case it is death by torture. Please let Saudi Arabis know that we are watching and are aware and are not distracted by events in other places in the world.
