WASHINGTON (AP) Republicans controlling the Senate have moved to try to reverse a new National Labor Relations Board rule that would shorten the time between a union's request for representation and the vote on whether to certify a union.
The White House promised to veto the measure just before the Senate's 53-45 party-line vote.
Senate Republicans are employing a little-used process to that allows Congress to pass a bill to try to reverse agency regulations without the threat of a Democratic filibuster. A final vote is likely on Wednesday.

(24,695 posts)Isn't this just convenient that the right wing republicans that go around spewing there right wing hypocrisy of saying that they are looking out for the little guy and woman when it comes to the 50+1 majority when the people / worker decides to have a UNION vote, they must not have gotten the memo, unless it came form the Right For Workless Corporation down in Washington.
How many jobs bills have you introduced there old Mitch--not one, just like the 419 filibuster's you created in the last 6 years that you blocked which some where jobs bills and now you want to create less opportunities for the worker----- were are the jobs bills Mitch, where are your jobs bills, that for one is your job, to fund jobs bills

(26,620 posts)I'm sure the teabagger voted against unions. What's more disturbing, I'm afraid to see how my Dem senator voted. Oh, looks like Bennet is a Democrat today.

(16,104 posts)Democratic President with veto. 2/3 votes in both chambers to override a veto.
Why are you wasting our time and money, Republicans?
Oh, I know. You want it on record that Democrats vote like Democrats. Genius!
