Swedish prosecutor asks to question Assange in London

Swedish prosecutors have asked for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange's approval to question him in London where he is currently holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy, the prosecutors said on Friday.

The prosecutor is also asking to conduct a DNA test.

Assange has been stuck inside the South American country's London embassy since June 2012 to avoid a British extradition to Sweden. Sweden wants to question him on allegations of sexual assault and rape, which he denies.

The Australian says he fears that if Britain extradited him to Sweden he would then be extradited to the United States where he could be tried for one of the largest information leaks in U.S. history.

I do think that unprotected sex, even totally consensual, entitles the unprotected partner to demand the other (both ways) for testing. That appears to be what the initial concern was (unprotected sex, allegedly unconsensually unprotected). Clearly the delay in time can ONLY be due to politics and probably US pressure. Hate to sound cynical but usually cynics are not cynical enough

2. So when the Swedish prosecutor says "you are now under arrest"

what will Assange do then? Will you still support him? The box will just get tighter.

3. This is the interview before arrest. This puts Assange and Ecuador on the spot.

Why do they need his DNA? standard procedure in a sexual assault crime.

If the the Swedish authorities were sincere about this matter maybe they should have questioned him earlier.
