McConnell Says He'll Delay Lynch Confirmation Until Senate Votes Bill With Anti Abortion Language

Source: Huff Post..

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Sunday that the Senate would delay the confirmation of Loretta Lynch to succeed Attorney General Eric Holder until it resolved a bill that Democrats object to because it contains anti-abortion language.

Before the Senate considers Lynch's nomination, McConnell wants the Senate to pass the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act. The bill, which would establish a fund for victims of human trafficking, had bipartisan support until Democrats learned it contained language that restricted federal funds for abortion. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has said the bill will not pass as long as it contains the language.

"I had hoped to turn to her next week, but if we can't finish the trafficking bill, she will be put off again," McConnell said, referring to Lynch, on CNN's "State of the Union."

McConnell had previously said Lynch's nomination would come to the floor this week. McConnell claims Democrats supported the trafficking legislation when they voted to pass it out of the Senate Judiciary Committee, but Democrats say they did not know the bill contained anti-abortion language. McConnell is refusing to pull the language.

On Obama's choice for Attorney General...Loretta Lynch ..This has been held up for weeks..It looks like he is holding that appointment hostage..till he gets his language in this legislation. Mc Connell is going to fight because the Republicans hid some anti-abortion language in that bill, and was found out. It is a very ugly scenario...in a moment a link to read more about this.

...in word processing software programs, how exactly does one go about ''hiding'' anti-abortion language in a bill.

if they don't know what its about. It boggles the mind the shit that comes out of washington dc. Do they vote based on the subject line only?

We need a house and senate cleaning thats for sure.

Classic example of "I'm a better Republican than the Republican."

And how many on DU say you have to vote for the one with the D after their name? This is one case where it isn't even funny.

"I'm not Barack Obama" she said in the ad...as she fired away.

McConnell knows that very well. He can blame Reid, Obama or some folks down the street, but that boat doesn't float. Save for the (R) base, I guess. I think most of us can spell prevarication. Or know it when we see it.

They get to simultaneously wreck government which they hate with a passion because their Masters have told them to hate it. And to send the message for America not to elect another one of ''them'' to the office of President. Or the same thing will happen. Every time.

Senate - don't think so. Keep the current AG or put some one in as a temporary appointee who will scare the you know what out of the Republicans in the Senate and elsewhere. Sounds like a good plan to me. There should be no shortage of persons who could temporarily fill the AG position and prove their mettle in the process for their consideration as a future Supreme Court appointment.

And until turtle confirms Ms Lynch he will start stepping up his investigations.

Perhaps a few openings into bank fraud, or some such
thing, might change their minds.

Mind you, I prefer Holder for his attitude towards
pot, which may also show a weakening towards
that disastrous war on drugs. She is all old school
about this.

He might think about opening an investigation in New Jersey to find out what Chris Christie gains from letting big oil off the hook. I'm betting his campaign account is filling right up. Then he might look at what laws were broken by the 47 traitors.
