BOSTON Boston's miserable winter is now also its snowiest season going back to 1872.
The official measurement of 108.6 inches at Logan International Airport Sunday night topped a season record of 107.9 inches set in 1995-96.
Photos: Astonishing photos from record-setting winter
The final 2.9 inches came in a snowstorm that was relatively tame after a record-setting monthly snowfall of 64.9 inches in February.

I know someone in Andover who had 5-6 feet covering his front yard, complimented by a 9 foot pile left by snow plows.

(111,255 posts)but we usually have 70 degree days this time of year, punctuated by winter storms that can drop snow through the first week of May. The altitude keeps us a bit cooler.
I'm dreading June this year, it's the hottest month in the high desert. I'm just glad I don't live in Phoenix, they are going to be in trouble if the year stays as warm as it has started.
I'm still glad I left Boston winters behind, especially this one.

(14,910 posts)You said it.
We're in WNY not far from where the Buffalo suburbs witnessed snowfall of similarly epic proportions followed by a wicked February pattern of bitter cold.
However I'm preaching to much of the choir along the Eastern seaboard...
"We've all had it..."
Amen.

(8,303 posts)Boston is beautiful in the spring, summer and early fall, but I was there once in November for a technical conference and I said "Never again" - and winter hadn't even started yet.
I know this one was particularly bad, but good heavens, how do you stand it year after year????

(1,365 posts)She said sidewalks had a narrow, foot-wide path between two five-foot high walls of snow. If someone came the other way, one of you had to turn around. She had to wait an hour in zero degree temps. for a bus. I am so glad I don't live in Boston anymore.

(63,221 posts)I live here in Boston and I think I am having some kind of post traumatic winter stress disorder or something. When I saw the snow today, I was just so over it I was about to lose my mind. Spring cannot come fast enough.

(22,669 posts)Our water shortages continue. So congratulations on your great winter snowfall totals. We're all envious that you had a winter, because it passed us by again this year. Our tallest mountains are almost bare. Maybe you guys could pack some of the snow up onto trains and send it 3,000 miles to California's bread basket.

(78,249 posts)A parking lot downtown turned into a snow pile worthy of the Winter Olympics. I used to pass it on the way to the train station several times a week. One day I noticed it had almost melted away.
The date was June 11th.
