Ecuador sees 'light at end of tunnel' in Assange case
By AFP .

The surprise offer by Swedish prosecutors to question WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange at Ecuador's London embassy over rape allegations offers a clear breakthrough in the deadlocked case, Ecuadoran Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino said Thursday.

Assange took refuge in the London embassy in 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden and has been ensconced there ever since.

"This allows us to see a light at the end of the tunnel," Patino told reporters in Washington. "That light is still not close, but this is the first time there is a movement in the Swedish judicial system suggesting that it may proceed with an interview."

The top Ecuadoran diplomat said he welcomed the Swedish move, but regretted it had not taken place earlier.

2. August in Sweden. However, there are charges in the UK that aren't going to expire, AFAIK.*

I like the 'narcissistic wurlitzer' reference. It's like Rand Paul. All about him, flip flopping for political gain. But we know where Rand is coming from, though as his legislative agenda is pure Koch Libertarian.

*Everyone appears to be eager to see the clock run out so this one-percenter can re-enter the world stage as celebrity martyr.

7. No! Not the door! A balcony interview would do the trick:

See, still safely out of reach. If his fans will allow the Swedish prosecutor to get a word in with him, that is.

Look at those cruel iron bars there. Yes, they've been painted white, but it's a cage for a bird who wants to fly to enjoy freedom.

The balcony has all the trappings of jail and a court with the police standing there. Plus the lousy take out food from Harrod's delivered to him is quite horrid, I hear.

I predict the women will take the fall for this one.

Truth tellers are always despised and pursued. I am appalled at some comments.

The guy who stopped the My Lai massacre in Nam was pursued until to his death.

Police are the new Harpies.
