Usaamah Rahim, the man fatally shot after waving a military knife at officers, had been plotting to behead Pamela Geller, an activist and conservative blogger, law enforcement sources told CNN. Geller drew national attention last month after police thwarted an attack on an event her organization was sponsoring in Garland, Texas.
Usaamah Rahim, who was fatally shot after waving a military knife at law enforcement officers, was originally plotting to behead a prominent New York resident targeted in other terror plots, three law enforcement sources told CNN on Wednesday.
But Rahim, a 26-year-old security guard who officials believe was radicalized by ISIS and other extremists, decided instead to target the "boys in blue," a reference to police, according to court documents. "I can't wait that long," he said of the original beheading plan, according to an FBI affidavit filed in federal court in Boston on Wednesday.
About two hours before Rahim's confrontation with officers on a Boston Street, he allegedly told an associate he was "going to ... go after them, those boys in blue. 'Cause ... it's the easiest target," the documents say.

(306 posts)I think trading hate for hate...gets us nowhere. Pam Geller may be an atagonist... but implying that it would be somehow ok if a radical islamic jihadist actually succeeded on thier intent to behead her or anyone.... is unconscionable.

(306 posts)Glad to hear it if that's the way you feel you aren't worth replying to anyway. So i'll leave it to everyone else to see how hateful you are. No matter how much PAM GELLER is guilty of being an hate filled antogonist... this asshole Conspired to kill her/a police officer brutally. Thank Goodness that did not happen. I don't care how much you ignore me it's wrong for anyone to think she deserved to be murdered for her bad behavior. Jihadists are real HATEFUL people who WILL kill the objects of their hatred with no second thoughts of remorse. One would think you wouldn't have to be reminded of that.

Your approach and wording were simple, honest, and gentle. Only a complicated, dishonest, or ungentle person would take offense.

(306 posts)Isn't it though... when on DU someone go's so far as to think PAM GELLER/or a cop deserves whats coming to them.... The implication that their murder would be in any way at all beneficial is insane.

(11,238 posts)The poster said nothing about Geller deserving to be murdered. The poster said nothing about cops at all. Absolutely nothing about anyone's murder being beneficial. If you think the joke was in poor taste you can say so without getting melodramatic & flat-out making things up.

Ironic that, according to this M$M 'story', extremists on the same side of the religious nut fence are going after each other

One dies, the other goes to prison for life.
Maybe we are overly civilized, maybe if you spend your life hating others you should come to a violent demise like these two would.
Maybe not, not up to me to decide. I am nonviolent so I would never harm or advocate for harm, but society does need rules.
And if you belong to a political party which wants Women to die in back alleys, then you are part of a violent organization, so I see no difference between teaparty, ISIS and Geller.

As it seems to be with so many sunshine patriots, the implications of her actions probably escape her, at least until brought home with such finality as this dead man in Boston presents.

(306 posts)He made his choices, as well as she did, they both espouse hateful ideology, but he was the one who made murderous threats to armed police officers... They did what they had to do. I will defend the use of deadly force of police when it justified, and i will condemn them when it is obviously not. Sadly, Geller will probably be thrilled by this ...which is why she is just fucking awful.

Never mind Gellar of the person in NY, but holy shit the cops were threatened...with a knife...ninja style.
Dead man! yay cops!

Your support of Islamic terrorist assholes is appalling. They can certainly engage Pamela Geller in a debate over the merits (or lack thereof) of her xenophobia but no -- they have to resort to violence based on a caricatured version of their religion.

This nut charged cops with a military knife, and got what was coming to him.
Greenwald has never heard of a dead terrorist who wasn't the real victim.

Greenwald is very sympathetic to radical Islamists and terrorists, as well as to Ron Paul.
