SPOKANE, Wash. Police in eastern Washington say they're no longer investigating racial harassment claims made by Rachel Dolezal, the head of a local NAACP chapter whose integrity was thrown into question when her mother said she's a white woman pretending to be black.
Dolezal has filed police complaints, saying she received hate mail at her organization's post office box.
Spokane police, however, say it's unlikely a letter that didn't have a date stamp or bar code could have been placed in the box without a key........................

I think this women should talk to a psychologist. Her family life seems to have contributed to her problems

....Dolezal's birth certificate filed in Lincoln County, Montana in 1977 states that Ruthanne is her mother and Lawrence Albert Dolezal is her father.
Ruthanne also clarified that Izaiah, who Dolezal often says is her son, is actually Dolezal's adopted brother. Between 1993 and 1995, Ruthanne and Larry adopted four black infants: Ezra, Izaiah, Zachariah and Esther.
Rachel Dolezal confirmed in a recent phone interview with The Press that Izaiah is one of her adopted brothers.
"He used to be my brother," she said. "But I have full custody of him now."
There are other questionable details of Rachel's personal history that have appeared repeatedly in media articles about Dolezal............

(7,006 posts)There are too many issues the African-American community face in threats, than Law Enforcement resources to be wasted on this Woman who have more problems than just "conveniently forgetting" what race the parents are when she was born.

(27,275 posts)that's my big problem with her. but it is clear to me that she also needs to seek some help. anyone who has to usurp another cultural identity to feel...normal...whole...whatever...needs some help.

(44,173 posts)The NAACP used to have a white president. His name was Kivie Kaplan.
In any case, this woman seemed to think that the way to get ahead in her organization was to flatly lie about her identity.

(1,787 posts)I knew a guy who acted and talked like he was black and in his mind, he was. I also find that most all of us have some racial aspects of so many races. So if someone is a Heinz 57, why not let them choose the race they want? After looking at her, it does look like she has some AA in her.
I am 1/8th Cherokee yet I've been called a liar when I've told some people that. Yet I am just that.
Remember that Aryan guy who was walking around a town and wanting to take it over? Then found out he was 16% African American? She looks a lot more AA than he did. I'll bet it's the parents who are in denial and not her so much.

(68,868 posts)black if she was born white?
Parents know their own race. She lied about her father's race and about her adopted brother being her child.

I'm sure many of us would be surprised by the results.
I mean, I'm pretty sure that I'm Scot/English/Irish because that's what I look like and that's what my parents told me I was but how do I know there wasn't a Moorish invader 1200 years ago somewhere in my family tree? I don't. My parents don't either.

(7,006 posts)You can talk about the differences in being a race one is not, but if its' the other thing...look for a possible alert. Suggestion, don't talk about that subject here as it's not allowed. #FYI

(1,787 posts)I am not questioning ones sexual choice, but rather defending her right about her race. And the terrible reactions to this in this thread and across media about her choice. Does she have AA in her? If so, doesn't she have the right to associate with that part of her?
I would bet that if you give her a DNA test, that she would have some AA in her, much to her parents dismay.
So is Obama white or black? And if he claimed his white heritage, would he get crucified like this lady is?
And if I take an alert for standing up to her, so be it. It would tell me a lot too.

(2,841 posts)so basically it's implied that she sent hate mail to herself??? D: Yikes. I think there's more than just adopting a different race in play here, this woman must have some psychological need to feel victimized.

(1,787 posts)Lately I have seen the media attack this woman and it really bothers me on two fronts. First, was a DNA test done? If so and she has no AA, then I apologize. But if she has some, then she should have the right to choose which race she identifies with.
I know that Craig Cobb is known around here. He is the Aryan who was walking around a town and claiming it was going to be Aryan. Here let me grab a link:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/white-supremacist-craig-cobb-told-he-is-14-african-in-televised-dna-test-8934797.html
Well, once it was found that that he had 14% AA in him, he took all kinds of crap from his own Aryan who now claimed he wasn't white. They even painted N&* on his residence. The one drop rule and such like that. And he looked white to everyone before that.
About 30 years ago, in Arizona, I lived in an apartment complex and in there was a full blood native. At a party, I told him that I live with the Indian spirit. He called me on it and pretty harshly too, so I let it drop. I am mostly "white" but have high cheekbones and brown eyes, both betraying my Eurocentric side and I also have 1/8trh Cherokee, and I know it is a small part, but I respected Indian ways more than white man ways. Months went on and I ran into him quite a few times including parties and having drinks at local bars. We would play dominoes at apartment group outdoor parties.
One day, he told me that I do indeed have Indian Spirit in me. That meant a lot to me. He had remembered all this time, and then told me what he felt. I had a lot of respect for this guy. Sadly he died less than a year later but his spirit is always with me.
So when I saw the viciousness on the attacks of this woman, It really crawed at me. I think we should at least let this woman choose what part of her she wants to be. And parents wont always know their heritage. Just ask Craig Cobb. Like I said earlier, is Obama white or black? If she has black in her, doesn't she have the right to associate with that part of her?

(9,951 posts)she claims her father is black, she claims her adopted brother is her son, she claims that her father whipped her like a slave, etc. And judging by her lies, I seriously doubt she has any AA DNA in her.
She is a liar and should be called out on it.

(73 posts)We know that to be a lie, because he is not her father. Therefore, even if it is found that she has African American descent (and there is no indication there is), she does not know she had any African American roots. Otherwise she would have said so in the interview
