Office Of Minnesota Dentist Who Killed Cecil The Lion Reopens
Source: ASSOCIATED PRESS
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) The dental practice of a Minnesota man who killed a well-known lion in Zimbabwe has reopened.
Walter Palmer's River Bluff Dental said in a tweet Monday that it was beginning to see patients again. The tweet said Palmer wasn't at the office.
Palmer's office in suburban Minneapolis had been closed since late July after a barrage of criticism for Palmer over the killing of a protected lion named Cecil. Palmer says he relied on his hunting guides to ensure a legal hunt in Zimbabwe.
An Associated Press reporter saw people going in and out of River Bluff Dental. A security guard posted outside the building Monday declined to answer questions and told the reporter he had to leave.

This is one of the driving forces behind the modern conservative movement in the US.
I bet you anything that this doctor has gotten a shitload of money from people who support big game hunting. We see the same thing with people lining up to donate to anti-gay business owners and cops who shoot black men in the line of duty.

(301 posts)play this story has gotten in the local media and whether his patients actually know about it. It wasn't a national story for more than a moment and it's not hard to believe there are people who didn't hear anything about it.

(6,820 posts)I'd like to hope he didn't leave them high and dry. But anyone who would pay $50,000 to get a shot at one wild animal can certainly afford to pay salaries while he's in hiding.

(210 posts)If so, he cares more about spending money on killing an animal than his own employees. What a waste of time, money, and resources. Just so he can feed his ego

Zimbabwe has formally asked for Palmer's extradition.
"Zimbabwq to U.S.: Extradite dentist over killing of Cecil the Lion"
http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/31/world/zimbabwe-cecil-lion-dentist/
I hope President Obama does the right thing here.
Minnesota has a Democrat as Governor, so the President should have no problem with him.
I just hope & pray that the President will have the courage to extradite Palmer, because he will get lots of flak from the NRA, the GOP, and all of the GOP presidential candidates, not to mention GOP Congressional leaders, who will NOT want him to agree to the extradition of palmer.

The petition got to well over 100K signatures (the threshold for the administration to have to answer it) within hours, but it would be great to see it make it to 250K before the 8/27 deadline.

(32,082 posts)And they have re-opened the hunting area that was closed after the killing. The link you provided is old and it represented the comments by the Environmental Minister -- not from their Justice Department. He has not been charged with anything and without charges can't be extradited.

(11,573 posts)I'm assuming that the present silence is due to talks between Palmer's "representative" and DoS attorneys.

(32,082 posts)All of your links go to the old comments of the Environment Minister. That office has nothing to do with extradition. There have been no charges filed. In order to extradite there have to be charges filed.
I just signed the petition

And it gives me a tiny bit of pleasure to think that now the bloodthirsty jerk knows what it feels like to be hunted.

Come on, Mr. President, do the right thing here.
Over 235,000 Americans have already signed the White House, gov petition.
Show your courage and leadership.
Start extradition proceedings against Walter Palmer as soon as possible!

(160,630 posts)He killed an animal illegally just because he's a pervert morally.
No one decent would want to speak to him again.
Our country certainly has an adequate supply of dentists to treat everyone who seeks treatment.
