State GOP leaders plot to tie Donald Trump’s hands
Source: Politico
Amid mounting concerns about Donald Trumps candidacy from the GOP establishment, Republican leaders in at least two states have found a way to make life a lot harder for him.
The Virginia and North Carolina parties are in discussions about implementing a new requirement for candidates to qualify for their primary ballots: that they pledge to support the Republican presidential nominee and not run as a third-party candidate in the general election.
The procedural moves are clearly aimed at Trump, who pointedly refused to rule out a third-party run during the first GOP debate.
They come amid Republican fears that the real estate mogul is gaining strength in the primary contest, and that his jeremiads against undocumented immigrants will alienate Hispanic voters. Despite coming under a hail of criticism in recent weeks, Trump has held steady atop state and national polls.

(12,437 posts)He intentionally took that position to suck oxygen out of the small candidate campaigns and to dominate media time away from Hillary. The only Clinton chatter permitted is/ was email smear ....Trump is obviously not sincere as he never seriously chooses his words or topics with political intention. He is the Teabaggers cheerleader.... He is efficient at this diversion.
The real GOP candidate will be John Kasich.... That is why Cleveland will host their Convention.

Repeat as often as they repeat BENGHAZI! and voila - the dude is toast.

(9,992 posts)Do you think Captain Combover would have ANY problem with making and then breaking that pledge?
He'd just claim America was demanding he run third party and "I'm not a politician" and thus not bound by pesky loyalty oaths and blah, blah, blah "My Presidency will be YUUGE! YUUGE, I tell ya!"
