Kasich: Help Hispanics by tipping the hotel maid?
Source: Columbus Dispatch
The last question of the GOP gathering at the exclusive golf club was straightforward: "Do you have a strategy for attracting a significant chunk of the Latino vote?"
...snip...
"I think it's a matter of inclusiveness and I think it's a matter of tone," the governor started out.
...snip...
"I look at our friends in the Latino community as people that ought to be voting Republican. I mean, they're very strong family. We could all learn a little from them about the importance of family, couldn't we? Because they are great, they are God-fearing, hard-working folks. And a lot of them do jobs that they're willing to do.
"That's why, in a hotel, you leave a little tip, you know?"

(2,577 posts)Kasich is not sane--he is nasty and cunning. He hates workers, women, poor people, education, and children. (The order changes depending on the day.) He got slapped big time during his first term when the people shut down his ALEC-inspired crushing of public employee unions via referendum. Now he is trying to sneak in "right to work."
In Ohio, infant mortality is way up, child poverty is way up, food insecurity is way up (number 3 in the nation!!), and wages are stagnant or declining. He balanced the state budget on the backs of local governments that are now put in the position of putting on levies to keep basic operations running. His private (yet public funded) Jobs Ohio has done little to create jobs. Ohio's employment recovery has lagged behind much of the rest of the country.
He has funneled billions in public dollars to failed charter schools (big donors are owners) and cut funding to public schools. Just this week the Ohio Supreme Court ruled that millions of dollars in equipment purchased with public money belong to White Hat Management, not to the people who paid for it.
This only scratches the surface. John Kasich (big-time Christian, by the way) pretty much holds all of the little people in complete contempt. We all need to pay very close attention.

(2,577 posts)I keep track of this scum because he is technically MY scum. Although I have never voted for him and worked on the campaigns against him, I live in Ohio and experience daily the results of his "leadership."

(51,076 posts)I was a postal clerk on a small base and one of my co workers/friends name was John Kasich. The governor looks like an older version of the John Kasich I knew. I wonder how I'd find out if indeed he is the same person.
Camh Rahn Bay Naval Air Station was the base. June of 69 through October of 70 was the time frame. He left for home several months before I did.

(51,076 posts)wiki isn't always spot on. I'm pretty sure its not the same person even though the name is the same and the governor looks like John that I knew 45 years later. Sorry to bother you

In a lot of Florida cities, much of the housekeeping staff -- they're not your maids -- are Haitian, which you'd notice if you'd actually speak to them.
