WA man shoots self in scrotum while fighting off meth hallucinations of ‘Mexicans in trees’

A Washington state man high on meth shot himself in the groin with a revolver after seeing imaginary “Mexicans” in trees outside his home which he believed were going to attack him, the Yakima Herald reports.

Martin Eugene Hoyer, 51, was apparently on day two of a methamphetamine binge when he kicked in his neighbor’s door with a handgun in his waistband. Authorities told the Herald when he did so, the gun went off and a bullet lodged in his scrotum. Hoyer was not seriously hurt but faces assault, harassment and unlawful firearm charges as a result of the incident.

Before bursting in on his neighbor, Hoyer pointed his .45 caliber Taurus handgun at another woman through her window. Voices he heard coming through his air vents told him that the neighbor was plotting with “a bunch of Mexicans and white guys” to steal his cash and truck.

After threatening her, Hoyer returned to his apartment but said that’s when he saw “Mexicans in the trees” outside his apartment who were plotting to jump him. He also imagined more “Mexicans” were in a second neighbor’s apartment trying to get her to open Hoyer’s apartment door so they could rob him, the Herald reports.

This is one of those times that I feel a little guilty for laughing. I'm sure the meth and his, uhm, "issues" (whatever they are), didn't help, but this is the sort of shit being promoted by people like Trump and Carson. An atmosphere of xenophobia, racism... bizarre ignorance, unfounded anger... and downright stupidity.

It's a pretty damned dark time for our Country when two of the leading candidates for a Presidential nomination are such fucking assholes. I mean, I didn't like Bush, I didn't like Romney, I didn't like McCain... but these two... they have no shame at all. Whatever manners, common sense, or actual moral values they were raised with are not at all evident today.

Yeah, this is ridiculous and crazy - but it doesn't take much to push someone like this guy here over the edge. Like that lunatic on the news who asked Trump what he was going to do about the Muslims building camps here in the US to kill us, or that shit about Obama being a Muslim.

As outrageous as it may seem - take a good look at this guy. There's thousands and thousands more like him who are just giddy about the idea of having Donald for President. Actually, a lot of them probably don't think Trump goes nearly far enough.

Another reason why we need some real gun control - and maybe to ask ourselves... how the hell are so many people in this Country so damned ignorant? Has our educational system failed that badly?

Also, for a modern revolver to "go off" it would have to be cocked, and still something would have had to pull the trigger. I'm guessing that the gun slipped in his waistband as he kicked the door, and he grabbed for it, getting his finger into the trigger guard by accident.

Sad story, but a lesson for all of us. Guns & drugs don't mix well. And in particular, meth is bad juju.

And, like I say in every thread about negligent handgun discharges, a handgun is not complete without a good holster that fully covers the trigger guard. Not that such would have necessarily countered the bad effects of drug-induced paranoia, but still...
