Boy Beheaded In Suspected Case Of Human Sacrifice In India's Prakasam District
Source: Huffington Post
A four-year-old has reportedly been beheaded in an apparent case of human sacrifice.
The child, named as Manu Sagar, was abducted in Valetivaripalem mandal, in Indias Prakasam district by Tirumala Rao, according to the Times of India.
The attacker is believed to have strangled the child before cutting his head off and drained his blood into a bottle in order to offer it to the goddess Kali, apparently in the belief that he would gain divine powers.
Rao was discovered next to the boys body, leading locals to attempt to lynch him.
He was tied up before having kerosene poured over him, which was then set alight.

(15,715 posts)never the two shall meet. And neither seems to have a problem with it. I would hate to see what America would be like if we did not have public education. It seems like the areas with the most problems are areas where you have to pay to get even elementary education.

Are you saying climate activists are soft on child sacrifice?
This is exactly the sort of comment you usually call people out over in other contexts...actually, no, it's worse than any comment I've ever seen you call other people out on...even in Bernie Vs. HRC threads.
What the hell, dude?

(50,254 posts)But nothing Pope Francis has said equates to the defense of human sacrifice.
Besides, it's beginning to look like Francis may be in the process of changing some of those teachings(his disavowal of Kim Davis is a good sign).

(17,600 posts)while acknowledging that ally is horrible on gay rights, is "giving a pass".
Got it. We should never, ever ally with anyone who doesn't agree with progressive goals 100% on ALL issues. Or is LGBT rights the only litmus test?

(101,311 posts)You can see the number of people who voted that he didn't meet Kim Davis, even after the Vatican had acknowledged that he did and that had been posted in the thread with the poll (about 50). Their cognitive dissonance wouldn't allow them to process the fact that he met her.

(17,600 posts)"Meeting" with Kim Davis was phenomenally stupid from a PR perspective. People voting that he didn't meet with her, probably couldn't believe he would step on his own message from his trip here, by inserting himself into such a blazing controversy.
He isn't remotely "liberal" on LGBT issues and anyone who thinks he is, is either a moron, not paying attention, or seriously confused. But he has been trying to downplay the Catholic Church's emphasis on sexuality issues, and refocus on issues like poverty and climate change. The Kim Davis thing was obviously counterproductive to the whole message of his trip here. Many of us can't believe he would have done that intentionally, but that's not the same as thinking he is liberal on LGBT issues.

(53,956 posts)You summed it up nicely. The past week has been horrific for those of us concerned with the LGBT people, especially when some of us are. Thank you.

(631 posts)But none of the things you said represent the entire Christian religion, either. Shall we say there are crazies in all religions? I think that's fair, but at the same time, we would then need to examine the source of their craziness, and wonder why some people are driven crazy while others are not.
