Accused Serial Cat Killer Is Son Of Retired Police Captain

Source: SFist.com

by Carman Tse in News on Oct 11, 2015 5:07 pm

A man found with a dead cat in his car and possibly connected to a string of cat deaths is the son of a retired police captain, say investigators.

On Thursday morning, San Jose Police arrested 24-year old Robert Farmer when they found him sleeping in his car in a Home Depot parking lot near Hillsdale and Leigh Avenues. Farmer was found with a cat's carcass in his car, according to the ABC 7.

The San Jose Mercury News reports that Farmer is the son of a retired SJPD captain. Police say that Farmer matches the description of a man caught on a home security camera stealing a cat named GoGo three weeks ago. Residents in the Cambrian neighborhood say that pet cats have gone missing or been found dead. The arrest comes with a sense of relief to them.

"Pets are family members to a lot of us so when something like this happens it deeply definitely affects a lot of people and that affects the community," San Jose resident Mike Bassi told ABC 7. "So yeah, that's really good news"

1. What a man, torturing, slaughtering helpless cats who have been trained to trust people.

If only he could be forced to face sane people who feel responsible for the helpless creatures on this earth. He needs to explain himself to human beings, explain why he has ever even considered doing this.

Of course it doesn't take long to remember Mike Hucklebee's son also tortured a helpless pet, a dog, in his case.

Evil people. Evil, dirty lives.

I guess Huckleberry's form of 'christianity' doesn't teach much empathy. Just intolerance and cruelty.

There are plenty of total assholes out there, you know, but people who torture animals are among the lowest slime there is - real pond scum.

and it's true to reality. They say it's one of the strongest early indicators (much stronger and less common than bed-wetting, fantasy life, abuse...)

6. TexasTowelie, thanks for asking people to protect their kittehs by giving them indoor shelter.

They depend upon humans for protection from a wildly dangerous world. I have seen too many horrifying things happen to both kits and dogs whose owners opted to throw their pets' fates to the wind. This hasn't been the "Garden of Eden" ever. They are NOT safe.

I don't want to describe things I've seen in my life, but I will say we were lucky when my husband saw a car hit a white kit which landed at the side of the road, and he scooped him up, took him to our 24-hour animal hospital, where they repaired, after extensive surgery, his crushed back legs.

We loved this cat for 18 years until he passed too recently. We were lucky my husband and a great doctor were able to save his life, and not lose him to the dark, and anonymous suffering of being smashed by a car.

Would NEVER have dreamed of turning him loose outside, nor would any of the cat owners I've ever known. Too much weighs against a long, healthy, happy life. Cars. Dogs. Cruel children, and perverts like this cop's son.

Please, if they love these innocent spirits, protect them. They need someone who really cares.

Thanks, again.

If you are going to own a house cat, it belongs in the house. The average life span for cats is now 15 years. Back in the 1980s it was only 5 or 6 years. More cats are now kept indoors. This not only prolongs the life span of your cat and it's general health, it also helps our wild friends that are hunted by our cats. Even human life is extended. People are maimed and killed by car accidents because people try to dodge cats in the road.

Please be kind to your cat and everyone else by keeping them inside.

serial killers.

This foul maggot crawling on the face of this earth may be the next Bundy. Put the cat killer on some serious anti-psychotic like lithium so he'll be docile and not do this awful thing any more.

because she happened to report that the cat killer is the son of a police captain. Commenters excusing cat killer's behavior as simple "mental illness".

Shaking my head. Some people will excuse anything.

Has the police captain been covering up for his son? If not, what kind of police captain can't see this criminal behavior going on under his own roof? Is he grooming him to be a "Dexter"?

Has he abused him?
police families are 2-4 times more likely than the general population to experience domestic violence
