10,000 march at Frankfurt Occupy protest rally

BERLIN (AP) -- German police say some 10,000 activists are participating in a major rally of the local Occupy movement in Frankfurt.

Police spokesman Ruediger Regis said Saturday more protesters are still flowing into the city center of continental Europe's biggest financial hub.

Organizers have said they expect some 20,000 protesters.

The protest group calling itself Blockupy denounces the power of the banks and what they perceive to be untamed capitalism. It has called for barring access to the European Central Bank, which is located in Frankfurt's downtown business district.

No real attempts are made to hide what cops are about now. Repression of our Right to assemble is relentlessly being squeezed into a smaller and more restrictive box. We are free to roam about within our curbs, to electronically sedate ourselves, to consume. But, when we gather to question political and corporate structures that are slowly bleeding us into a weak and shuffling herd, the fists of authority slip from their voyeur centers with clubs and poison sprays at the ready.

Identifying the symptoms is fairly simple, but the disease is complex, the cure is messy and recovery uncertain. Frustrating indeed, yes?

We need to start talking to the cops we know. They are generally conservative by nature but many are sympathetic. I have been doing my pro bono work helping cops when they are involved in an administrative investigation. I have been able to shine the light of reality to many of them. The powers that be will always use cops, but we can get many on our side and really turn this around! It will not be until that moment that we can turn everyone's hearts and minds. We have to remain peaceful with NO VANDALISM!

al pigs work for the 1% and all pigs have a facist streak in them a mile wide and many are on a major authoirty kick learned from being in the military or from being bossed around and bullied as kids. Almost all cops have a latent sadistic streak boing under the thin vaneer of forced civility and are more than ready to unleash physical violence on the marginalized, dispossessed and those who advocate for them!!!!

I'm not sure where you're coming from with this, but the cops won't be there when you get broken into in the middle of the night. Ergo, you've ALWAYS had to take care of this type of situation yourself.

What? You expected the cops to help you in this situation? How? Even if the cops WANT to help you in this situation (not ever a given depending on your neighborhood), it's going to take them a few minutes to get there. By then the crisis part of the situation is over with one way or another.

I agree with the poster you responded to. If the cops go along with being used as enforcers for the capitalist system, they AIN'T on our side. Cops have to choose just like the rest of us. Whose side are you on?
