Jordan attacker buried amid chants of 'Death to America'

Source: AP

RIMON, Jordan (AP) — Thousands of mourners chanted "Death to America, Death to Israel" during the funeral Thursday of a Jordanian police captain who killed five people, including two American instructors, in a shooting rampage at a police training center this week.

It remains unclear if the shooter had political or personal motives. Anwar Abu Zaid's family has argued that he was both a victim and a martyr" for killing the Americans.

His brother Fadi led about 3,000 marchers in the funeral procession. Fadi accused the government of trying cover up Monday's events at the training center, and demanded that security camera footage be released.

Jordan's government has said little about the shooting. The incident has raised questions about the kingdom's image as an island of relative stability in a turbulent region.

Not W and Cheney, though they are major assholes in the ME mess, but just our overall politics in the ME for that past 60 years.

We are the assholes, and we are paying for it now.

Well, we arent, are we.

It's hard to think of someone who hasn't acted like an asshole in that part of the world.

Gulf states, Iran, Syrian government, anti-Syrian government insurgents, Palestinians, Israelis, Russians, United States, not to mention the people who really started everything, the French and the British.

5. This is called blowback, and unless the USA gets a hold of this situation it will only get worse.

But what else should one expect?

The USA loves its dictators and strongmen governments.

To coin a phrase, "They are bastards, but they are our bastards."

Until, that is the people or momentum changes that fact.

Cuba? Blowback.

Viet Nam? Blowback.

Iran? Blowback.

Iraq? Blowback.

Latin America? Blowback.

Israel?

What we touch eventually turns to shit and haunt us afterwards.

Who we elect for president will be very important.

U.S. Presidents have been trying to solve that situation since 1948. All have been complete failures. The next president will be the same in that region.

3. Kinda like the"Bomb Iran" ignoramus, or the "kill all the Muslims crowd". And what time

did our bombers get back, after flying over China's new islands over the weekend?

Surely there is some place we could send all these losers, let them fight each other while we get on with living.

I know families are always "my boy couldn't have done what they said", but in the vast majority of cases, they did.

He's a victim or he's a martyr. Pick one.

Is this really a surprise?? I think we destroyed three countries and killed about 500,000 people. You think they might be angry?
