Clearly the DNC needs to get to the bottom of this, but chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz did herself and her party no favors when she blasted the Vermont senator: The Sanders campaign doesnt have anything other than bluster, she said. The chair, who backed Clinton in 2008, is already under fire for a truncated debate schedule that will have many of us leaving holiday parties to watch the next Democratic go-round at 7:30 on the Saturday before Christmas. She needs to investigate the breach, not inflame an already tense situation by snapping back at Sanders.

(592 posts)I once had access to the Voter Data File and had to sign an agreement just like all of the campaigns did here. (When I did it was at the State level)
That file is what is used by campaigns for just about everything INCLUDING Voter turnout efforts that are critical in the final weeks of a campaign. The voter file does not provide a lot of information about voters, especially how they voted directly. What it does show is what is called "high efficacy" voters, those who voted in 4/4s and 2/4s meaning generals and primaries last four election days.
Campaigns actually contribute to this file as they sign up new voter registrations and identify potential new voters within the Democratic Party. The fact that this list is no longer available to the Sanders campaign actually harms the Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton in a way, because in the end the Party will use all voting lists for canvassing and phone banking.
To not be trusted with this data is just as bad as Diebold voting machine failures and hanging chads.
In other words, this is the most serious issue within the entire Democratic Party right now and these breaches in data security by a DNS vendor run by former Clinton campaign staffers has violated the trust of the Party faithful.
I know of no better reason why DWS should not be resigning on Monday.

Absolutely. The DNC is the responsible party here and their gross incompetence could not be more evident.

(5,792 posts)wonder if it will come out that Hillary's side was doing the same thing when Bernie's side reported it in October.

(4,711 posts)Since it establishes per-diem damages, they had better be very certain of their case before contesting it. Else they're set to become one of Bernie's biggest donors.

(2,545 posts)herself but Clinton too. Her reputation is already junk status. If she turns out to be heavy handed in this it will drive even more people to the Bernie camp. She is starting to seem like left wing Karl Rove. Sad, just sad
