(31,564 posts)I went to the store, even though I could have skipped it. There was very little bread in the store.
Stay safe, everyone.

(34,424 posts)we are expecting a little freezing rain, 1/4 -1/2 inch with 2 inches of sleet then around 4 -6 inches of snow. I have been outside working madly today (and the last few days as well) on the farm to keep up with this big weather change from the upper 40's to the 60's we have been having.
Headed back out now as it gets dark to finish cleaning out one of the barns. It is very cold and windy, wow the wind.
Once I get the horses in and the goats fed as well I am inside for the duration of the night. Tomorrow we start it all over again!
Everyone stay home and relax. Stock up and do not go out.

(5,960 posts)..nobody ever talks about livestock operators. Goats, cattle, swine, horses -- they need food, water, barn cleaning , and possibly meds every day. Whether it's Christmas; 73 and sunny; of 17 inches of blowing snow falls over an inch of ice.
I wish you all the best. Stay safe.

(34,424 posts)So far it has been a bust here but that is good. The ground is covered with sleet and that is all.
Before I got the farm I was a 24/7 mother and before and during part of that I was a nurse and always had to work at least half of the holidays (night shift so I could still celebrate with family) and before that I worked at the zoo that also never goes a day without full staff for any reason. It is just the way it is. I am very happy to be able to do this in my later life . All of these things were rewarding enough to do it.

(13,390 posts)With all of the rain we have had, freezing temps will be disasterous.

(19,464 posts)We are getting some sleet and snow but it's still above freezing here. Snow really won't start until around noon. I will try and get everything done by then so I can just sit and watch it?

(13,390 posts)One of the worst things about MO is the ice. We get snow, the sun comes out it gets just above freezing and it freezes overnight. There's no telling what the next few days will bring.
