Famous '70s TV star Dan Haggerty -- who played Grizzly Adams -- died from cancer early Friday morning ... TMZ has learned.
Haggerty died after battling cancer for the last few months. Sources close to Dan's family tell us doctors discovered the cancer after he had surgery for back pain.

someone else could fall next, this disease needs to be stopped.. People are living longer, doing better, and some have survived Cancer. Medical Research is so important, and should be part of our platform in the Democratic Party.

Instead of curing it - which by the way is an admirable goal - why don't we try to eliminate the causes like toxins in our food, water, clothing, environment etc etc etc ... ??

I can't tell you how much I loved that show as a kid. I still have the theme song memorized. I always thought that no matter how bad things got in life, I could always just go out in the woods sometime and befriend a bear and everything would be okay.

Cancer again. I am getting tired of this.

Now, when I think back about the movie and tv series I can't help but think what a unique era of kids/family friendly entertainment that we had back in the 70's. I just can't see that ever happening again. You can tell that a generation of hippies went on to start their careers and, at least at first, developed many of the innocent and idealistic values of their youth onto the small screen.

I guess he's up there with the Grizzly and Old #7.

I saw him during Bike Week in New Smyrna Beach, FL one time. He was an extremely nice guy. RIP
