Woman critically injured in Renton theater shooting

Source: KOMO news, Seattle, WA

RENTON, Wash. -- A 40-year-old woman was critically injured Thursday when she was shot in the chest inside a Renton movie theater, police said.

The shooting happened at around 8 p.m. at a movie theater at the The Landing in Renton during a showing of the film "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi."

"It got about 15-20 minutes into the film and I believe the lady in front of us that got shot was actually talking to her husband or significant other and that's when we heard the loud pop," said one witness, who did not want to be identified. He was sitting 3-4 rows behind the man when the gun went off.

"It must have been a light bulb or the projector lens or something that loud, but I mean I've owned guns and that's definitely a gunshot for me," the witness added.

"Preliminary accounts indicate that an intoxicated suspect entered one of the theaters and was fumbling with a handgun he had in his possession when it went off, striking another patron seated in front of him," Renton Police said in a statement.

because there's no other way for a gun to fire, right DU Experts?

The problem with Firearms is that too many people are negligent idiots. Sure, it's a small percentage that fuck up, but fucking up has fatal consequences.

We need some more Infringing around here.

The 29 YO gunman's father called 911 and turned him in saying that the shooting was just an accident.

Yeah, everybody gets drunk and brings a loaded handgun to a movie theater.

a gunman.

God!

That careless fool dropped his gun and shot someone.

You never know who next to you in public can screw up and accidental discharge their weapon.

It's crazy. The possibilities of getting shot are skyrocketing as the number of guns in society increase but the NRA sees nothing wrong.

should be five years, no parole, loss of right to own a gun forever.

Need to keep fools like this and Palins off the street.

Funny how this is the 5th time I've seen a posting about someone being injured "accidentally" by someone else with a gun in the past few weeks. I also know this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Any time someone gets drunk, brings a loaded gun around with them and it goes off, shooting someone then that is as much of an 'accident' as a drunk driver hitting a pedestrian. I call that reckless endangerment.

He was fumbling with his gun and it went off. He was inebriated and sorry afterwards. Sounds like an accident to me and agree with the reckless endangerment. He should have had his gun locked and shouldn't have been carrying in a movie theater and shouldn't have been drunk going to the movie. I'd certainly sue his ass if I were the one shot.

I didn't say he was sorry and could care less if he is or isn't. He was stupid for not having his gun locked and playing with it while drunk in a public place and needs to be in jail for injuring a totally innocent woman.

What if the Russians had attacked while the people were watching the movie?

Or Muslims?

Or the Chinese Communists?

Or a gang of Mexican rapists?
