McDonald's Forgot To Put The Mozzarella In Their Mozzarella Sticks

Source: Huffington Post

The main ingredient in a mozzarella stick is, well, mozzarella.

But apparently not at McDonald's.

Cheese fans are up in arms after a number of people posted photos of their new McDonald's mozzarella sticks looking hopelessly hollow:

and she said they were terrible. Not what she was expecting at all. Total waste of money.
I had a time when I got a grilled chicken sandwich at McDonalds. I got about 3 blocks when I turned around, because I found there was no chicken. It was just bun, tomato, and mayo. I showed the manager, and he turned to look at a guy and said "Mike, you did it again." It was more funny than anything.

Or make sure that when the buzzer or whatever goes off they get taken right out of the fryer oil.

Literally 10 seconds to long and the cheese starts coming out.

Eta: just tried them, quite good, surprised they were so garlicky. The marinara is very good.

I think they serve shitty food because they try to cut costs any way they can as long as they can make the shit taste good. It doesn't necessarily mean it was an intentional deception, it could be that something messed up in the manufacturing or cooking process or it has something to do with the low quality of ingredients.

It can be aged as well, but you hardly find that here. The porcheria people in America eat as italian food makes me want to cry. Pizza when done correctly is amazing. Simple food, fresh ingredients, prepared with good technique. THAT is italian cooking.

I really like that fresh style mozz they use for caprese insalada.

Has brushetta changed in your opinion? When I was young it was put together in layers on thin sliced toast, and then put under the broiler for a couple minutes. Now all I ever see is the "Pico de gallo" style if you know what I mean.

although everyone mispronounces it. It is sketta, not shhetta...anyway

We eat a lot of polenta, butter, anchovies, rice, our red sauce is simply tomatoes, garlic, and a bit of red pepper. Our pasta is rich made with only egg yolks. Beef and rabbit is popular. Our sausage is not flavored with fennel or peperoncino, but other more refined spices.

I grew up on cured pork and I still make my own pancetta tessa and coppa as well as a proscoiutto now and then.

Talaggio cheese is my favorite. It is what brie aspires to be, but never can quite make. Amarone is my favorite wine. There is nothing quite like it anywhere else. Barolo is a close second, although Amarone is a symphony and Barolo is a heavy metal concert.

I love chestnuts and chestnut flour. Hazlenuts and almonds as well. Lemon and anise are classic italian flavors.

Those are the flavors of my youth and what I eat today as much as possible.

The breading cooks up nice and crispy ... it holds its shape, and all the delicious cheese inside melts away and seeps into the fryer oil. Result: Hollow Fried Breading. Yum.

At that temperature, it shouldn't take too much overcooking to ruin the item. If a place is understaffed, I can see how the product isn't removed at the right moment.

I try (and succeed) so hard not to get aggravated with the staff. You just can't do three things at once and not fuck up. You just can't.

You can't take orders, make change, wash Windows and fill drinks all at the same time.

I once purchased a cheapie Ziti with Cheese microwavable dinner. Of course the cheese as shown on the "serving suggestion" cover photo was shown as thick and stringy. When I heated it according to directions and then opened the box - no cheese. It had apparently vaporized (or something). The next time I managed to preserve what cheese actually was in the package by adjusting the instructions for my particular microwave oven.

Very cheap and if you salt it, it tastes great, whatever is battered (mozzarella, chicken, fish, etc).

Of course, it's terrible for nutrition and waistlines. And this kind of food over time causes cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. Shhhhhh... fast food chains don't want you to know.

Honestly, they are on the 2 for $2 menu. Not the greatest, but met my expectations for a $1 fast food item.
