Van Hollen to dispatch agents, lawyers during recall

Source: WEAU

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen plans to dispatch criminal investigators and lawyers to the polls during Tuesday's recall elections to discourage fraud.

Van Hollen, a Republican, plans to deploy teams of special agents and assistant attorney generals across the state, including dispersing seven groups to the polls in Democratic-leaning Milwaukee. He says the agents and attorneys will help local election officials ensure voters comply with state election laws.

Van Hollen dispatched similar teams to the polls in the 2004, 2008 and 2010 general elections.

Democrats upset with Republican Gov. Scott Walker's contentious plan that all but ended collective bargaining for most public worker forced the governor and four other GOP officeholders into Tuesday's recalls. Walker will face Democratic Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.

What's that all about?

“The June recall election is a significant event in our state’s history. The people of Wisconsin need to have confidence that their rights are being protected and the laws are being followed,” Van Hollen said in a statement.

It sounds.like the intent is to intimidate D voters, and probably to remove D poll watchers on trumped up charges so the election theft can proceed on plan.

Van Hollen said seven teams would be assigned to Milwaukee, in cooperation with the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office, and two will be assigned to Madison.

In addition, one team will operate in each of the following communities: Appleton, Green Bay, Racine/Kenosha, Waukesha, Eau Claire, Wausau, Janesville/Beloit and La Crosse.

Van Hollen said a similar effort would be conducted in the November general election. The attorneys and agents all have been trained in election law and law enforcement.

We expect to see them. And as we have been before, we expect to be ready to nail them with our own teams when they cross the line with their intimidation tactics.

R's are scared to death of a strong turnout in Milwaukee.

All the bases are already covered. They have "flying inspectors" that already perform these functions. Every polling location has at least one Republican and one Democrat to assure proper procedures are being followed. Voters are also encouraged to report problems, and they do - even things like election workers listening to a radio or talking amounst themselves -- so there are plenty of eyes and ears already in place.
