Rep. Hayworth adviser who suggested hurling acid at Dems resigns

Source: The Hill

The campaign adviser who suggested that opponents "hurl some acid at those female Democratic senators" has resigned from the congressional campaign of Rep. Nan Hayworth (R-N.Y.).

“Jay Townsend has offered, and I have accepted, his resignation from his position with my campaign," Hayworth said in a statement. "Now let's return to talking about issues that really matter to families: job creation, spending restraint and economic development.”

The little speech he gave to the UN was priceless, I started appalling right in the movie theater. " Your democracy is better. Your torture of prisoners is wonderful. Your One percent owns everything, and you work so hard to give them tax breaks to help them illegal wiretapping and your prisons are all full of one race of people." Yes I love your democracy "

They just never can "apologize" can they.

"I posted a stupid, thoughtless and insensitive comment on a Facebook page. It was stupid because my words were easily misconstrued; thoughtless because my choice of words obscured a point I was trying to make, and insensitive because some have interpreted the comment as advocating a violent act," Townshend wrote. "To friends, associates and clients I have offered my apology for the embarrassment I have caused, and do hereby offer it to the many who rightly found fault with my incendiary choice of words. The mistake was mine, and mine only and the post in no way was intended to represent the views of anyone for whom I have worked or represented."

different meanings can there be for ""hurl some acid at those female Democratic senators" "?

He is sorry if anyone misinterpreted his words to mean he was advocating a violent act.

He only apologized to his friends, who probably did not find any fault. It's too bad this will now be forgotten and likely be used to decry liberals again.

Apparently it's been taking root here as well. This would seem to call for more than a non-apology and a "he's gone, let's talk about something else". I can't imagine anyone making that suggestion publicly prior to the last decade and it sickens me to think that's what discourse has become.

ETA: Nobody pops up and says something that whacked for their first time at the mic. I have to wonder how long he's been touting that kind of shit and whether this is just the first time he was willing to say it openly. I can't imagine what it's like in those offices, and why anyone would keep him around as long as he was.

He means tax cuts (job creation), social program cuts (spending restraints) and economic development (imposing austerity on the middle class and sending jobs to other countries so he can have more wealth).

He's the one who should resign.

"hurl some acid at those female Democratic senators" sounds like some of the stunts the hard core SS troopers might have come up with.

And if Rep. Hayworth fails to see a serious problem there, then she's as bad, or worse, than the idiot who made that statement.
