Student charged after sharing nude photos of teacher

Bruce Smith, Associated Press

Updated 4:17 pm, Friday, March 4, 2016

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A high school student who went through his teacher's cellphone, found a nude picture of her and posted it online has been charged with a computer crime and voyeurism, authorities said Friday.

Union Public Safety Department Chief Sam White said the student, who is being charged as a juvenile, was taken into custody at Union High School without incident.

The 16-year-old is charged with a count of violating the state's computer crime act in the second degree and a count of aggravated voyeurism.

. . .

Both charges are misdemeanors for a first offense. But if the teen is convicted on both counts he could be sentenced to a maximum fine of $10,500 and four years in prison.

A) You are a jerk. It should be private property, like a photo album or her computer, and phones are used to transmit such often.
B) She wasn't WISE to do so, given the possible consequences and the fact that she has to carry her phone with her,
C) She probably has a boyfriend. She may be having premarital sex!!! Just put her in stocks and throw rotten fruit at her, then make her wear a burka for the rest of her life,
D) You are a jerk. You really, really are a jerk.

And finally, let me state that I hope someone robs you of your private, very personal stock of photos with a dildo up your ass, and publicizes them, so I can then ask all sorts of questions about your private life.

Thanks for standing up for this poor woman, though. She is being abused every which way.

What right does any student have to go through any staff member's private stuff? There's no confusion possible - the student knew it was snooping and knew that publicizing the photo was wrong.

This is antediluvian prejudice, and it is unpleasant to see it repeated here on DU.

Any one could pick it up, and of course a student would do it - right or wrong there is always one in every group.

How could she not have a password on her phone knowing that she has nude pics on there?

He compounded his crime by using the opportunity to try to destroy his teacher's reputation among the students, to make her a target of dirty jokes, ridicule, rage, etc.

Very provincial, pompous, hateful, spiteful, selfish brat. He needs to go to his room for awhile.

He also should have not been tempted to destroy his teacher's reputation by exploiting what he had seen in her private property.

As it is, he's a baby pervert, and a burglar.

You're right, the teacher should, hopefully, learn from this experience.

The phone is the teacher's property and he had no right to touch, much less snoop through it, without her expressed permission. Even if no one was there to tell him not to. This is one thing wrong with this country - people think that something that is open, or left out, is fair game. No. It is not yours. Leave it alone. Period. And do not make excuses for the kid. He knew what he was doing was wrong, so don't validate him or make excuses for him.

It is hard to imagine that what he said is true. He said: "It became a regular piece of equipment that they used in that classroom." I find that hard to believe.

The superintendent also said the resignation had been her choice, which is a blatantly misleading statement.

In earlier articles he said that this woman had contributed to the delinquency of a minor.

This is a man who was determined to get this teacher out and to smear her name. I don't trust anything he says.

He left her sinking in a pit of gossip, ridicule, negativity which could make it impossible to be effective at that school, or any school in the area. I believe he could have ruined her for that town, for sure.

Bogus "Christian values" people are nothing if not petty, hostile, grudge-bearing. They could hold this over her head until she dies of old age, ignoring the fact it was stolen, taken without her permission.

One of our high school teachers was an unusually attractive - and rather flirtatious - young woman who was constantly teased by some of the more brazen football players (who, as you know, are often given a pass for things that could get other students in real trouble).

The situation came to a head when, during a teacher talent show, the guys unfurled a huge banner in the auditorium that said "TAKE IT ALL OFF!!!"

A few weeks later we all learned she was pregnant - so who knows, maybe she did.

And, she was in the hallway during class changes. My principals always told us to be in the hallway when the kids were changing classes.

It's hard enough to be a teacher, without cell phones.

School resources are limited. Maybe her phone gives her access to data. Who knows,

In my high school, teachers were supposed to stand outside in the hallway during class changes in order to keep the halls somewhat calmer. I believe that is common practice. Also teachers were allowed to use the bathroom.
