Sanders: We have to stop 'outrageous' level of violence in Chicago

Source: USA Today

CHICAGO — Bernie Sanders called for an end to the city's surging violence during a rally late Monday night, hours after a shooting wounded three officers on the West Side.

"We got to stop this outrageous level of violence," Sanders said.

The Democratic presidential hopeful informed the crowd of the incident during his rally at The Auditorium Theater. He referenced the increase in violent incidents in a city that is off to the deadliest start of a year in nearly two decades.

Three officers were wounded Monday night while investigating alleged drug activity in the 11th District, about five miles from the Sanders rally. They were taken to Stroger Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.

Gangs roam the south side of town. Sanders doesn't have the silver bullet to stop that kind of violence.

Your complaint was that Sanders points out a problem without providing a solution. This was an incorrect statement and an unhelpful complaint, as my response demonstrated. Thank you for playing.

As far as your suggestion that the president should take action on the south side of town (beyond the typical lame reaction of moving the goalpost when losing an argument), I feel confident you will make yourself familiar with the Posse Comitatus Act.

If you are going to successfully promote your thoughts and arguments on DU, I suggest you do a modicum of research before making provocative, but easy to disprove, statements.

anything to do with what I said. The Ruling Class enjoys chaos in the Lower Classes. Then they can lock up half of us and make the other half pay the cost. They also love to see racial battles. The busier we are with fighting among ourselves the less time we have to stop them from looting all our resources and destroying our environment.

But some people think that the "personal responsibility" is a justification for not helping your neighbor. That's not you is it?
