Woman in leading Flint water crisis lawsuit slain in twin killing
Source: MLive
FLINT, MI A woman at the center of a bellwether Flint water crisis lawsuit was one of two women who were shot to death inside a townhouse earlier this week.
Sasha Avonna Bell was one of the first of a growing number of people to file a lawsuit in connection to the Flint water crisis after she claimed that her child had been lead poisoned.
Bell was found dead April 19 in the 2600 block of Ridgecrest Drive at the Ridgecrest Village Townhouses. Sacorya Renee Reed was also found shot to death in the home.
An unharmed 1-year-old child was also found inside of the Ridgecrest home when Bell's body was discovered and was taken into custody by child protective services. Police declined to confirm if it was Bell's child discovered in the home.

Flint water employee found dead at Lapeer County home
LAPEER COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -
A Flint Water Department employee was found dead on April 16.
Matthew McFarland, 43, of Otter Lake, was found dead at a residence in Otter Lake by a friend. His friend called 911.
There were no signs of foul play in McFarland's death, police said. Police have not released the cause of death.
The Lapeer County Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy, but the results did not show an immediate cause of death, police said.
The examiner's office will perform additional tests, including a toxicology report, to determine the cause of death.
McFarland was an employee at the Flint Water Department.
His death remains under investigation.

Doctored Document Behind the Flint Water Crisis Criminal Charges
The criminal charges brought against Michigan officials in Flints water crisis this week included several felonies involving tampering with evidence. The evidence in question is a doctored document that made Flints lead levels appear allowable under federal guidelines, making water treatment seem unnecessaryand exposing the citys residents to unsafe drinking water.

(13,889 posts)You should absolutely not rely on mainstream news reporting for any kind of legal insight. Part of why I got into studying law in the first place was frustration with the consistently poor reporting of legal cases I was interested in - eventually I just started reading judicial opinions instead of news reports in order to figure out what had actually happened. Most people in the media are too stupid/lazy to understand the workings of the legal system, and their readers are one level worse informed again.
She was among the first plaintiffs to file, but in class-action type suits the actual knowledge and expertise goes through the lawyers. The first plaintiff on the docket is sort of a figurehead but need not have any special insight into the facts of the case. Someone's name has to be on the case and it's generally the first person to file on behalf of themselves and similarly situated plaintiffs.

(6,419 posts)the truth already did come out. This has been one of the biggest scandals of the year.
So what is the implication of this OP--the truth hasn't come out, and the water was really poisoned by lizards from outer space, and that must be covered up (even though these deaths won't affect the investigations at all)? Given that thousands and even tens of thousands will be covered in the lawsuits, is it really the implication that assassinating one is going to be a priority for the PTB Star Chamber or whoever? By the way, who is the whoever--do you think the governor has a team of sophisticated assassins in his employ?

Gee, got it all figured out and diminishing and distracting from the importance of these deaths. Well you got it all figured out, case done, finished and shelved, right? Have you even studied the effects of lead poisoning over a long period of time on a mass populace? With most of that populace being AA, didn't matter to a lot of people until they got caught in their lies and intent. I just don't understand purpose of "lowly" being used to describe a highly suspcious murder of someone involved from the beginning that made disclosure of these criminals in the stategovernment possible. "Lowly".

concerning the OP about charges being brought against 'low level' officials in snyders administration and now these 'coincidental' killings of prominent people in the Flint water poisoning case. The sacrificial lambs are being led to the slaughter and slaughtered to 'save' the careers of the fascists that knew about this mass poisoning much earlier than they admit and possibly to try to intimidate the others involved in the lawsuit against top REPUBLICAN officials in the snyder administration. This seems pretty messy, but hell murder by PTB would be nothing new, to keep secrets, power and to maintain control of a situation that could cause potential damage, politically, to a person like snyder who would like to keep his RW legacy as clean as possible, especially if he say...wanted to run for POTUS down the road which I heard mentioned at one time in the mess media.
Murder IS NOT beneath people like snyder, et al.
... DU member "uhnope" reads your post. He needs some help understanding what's going down with all these "coincidental" deaths in Flint. Thanks.
uhnope
(6,419 posts)one is just a victim...there are tens of thousands more like her. She (RIP) doesn't know anything about the case except that she drank from the tap. Her death will not affect the case at all.
So then you have just one death of someone who worked at the plant. One person--not much of a pattern. BTW, since the poisoning came from a decision to use a different water source, workers at the plant had nothing to do with it.
And you think the governor has a death squad killing people in a sophisticated variety of ways. Wow.
This is crazed, too-much-Hollywood groundless paranoid conspiracy theory that's insulting to the actual victims of the water poisoning.
Otherwise, it's funny & entertaining.

your understanding of this situation is typical of the diminish and distract crowd. You are entiled to your spin, which is, believe me, understood in a way that does not reflect well on your relating to issues surrounding this mass poisoning in this particular community. I WILL continue to follow this situation in spite of your flawed understanding of what's important here, with the hundreds of thousands of poison victims being just one of the important factors surrounding the cause, subsequent attempted cover-up and final exposure of state government malfeasance reaching all the way into the governors office. Have a good day.

Those of us familiar with Mississippi history might take a different view on suspicion that nothing helps coincidence along like a political hierarchy threatened by scandal and investigation. That is not an unreasonable proposition given the circumstances, the administration involved and the apparent level of political corruption which has been revealed thus far.
I don't necessarily suspect Snyder, though I do not rule his office or his cronies out. I would not be surprised to find someone lower on the political food chain has a hand in these deaths. If so I doubt these will be the last victims, sadly.
