But in an interview with U.S. News, Nader expressed more positive thoughts about Trump's candidacy than Clinton's [...] He's questioned the trade agreements. He's done some challenging of Wall Street I don't know how authentic that is. He said he's against the carried interest racket, for hedge funds. He's funded himself and therefore attacked special interest money, which is very important

(5,082 posts)Everytime I see someone's profile name with the word democrat or blue state or liberal in it I feel like they are trying to convince us they are something they are NOT. Transparent irony.

(5,106 posts)Nonetheless, they are both egomaniacs and both scary in their own ways. That Trump has a better shot at being elected POTUS, is not a happy thought; but Nader would have been even scarier.

(5,106 posts)Originally, with "Unsafe at Any Speed," he woke a lot of people up and did some good. Thereafter he seemed to just be in search of a cause to be outraged about. Ultimately he probably caused more harm and confusion than good. His strange, monkish, humorless lifestyle was far from normal.

(1,258 posts)What did Nader say here that isn't true? He mentioned that he doesn't know how authentic Trump is. Nader is pointing out what the Dems will be dealing with. It's what Trump is saying and what the people hear. Trump is often to the left of Clinton. That's why Bernie polls better. Both Trump and Sanders are willing to challenge the donor class. HRC is not.

While Trump is opposed to the TPP, as am I, he says he opposes it because it would be good for China. He hasn't explained how it would be good for China and I have no idea how it would be good for China. I don't think this man knows what he's talking about, which is not a comforting thought to have about a presidential candidate.
If Trump were to become president, he would be a 500 gigaton nuclear bomb. Sure, he'd destroy neoliberalism, and that, to me, sounds like a good thing. Unfortunately, he'd destroy everything else, too, starting with oceans and rain forests.
You see, Maria, the enemy of one's enemy is not necessarily one's friend. That is also an admonition I offer to any of my fellow Sandernistas entertaining the idea of voting for a lunatic like Trump.
