Attorney general: I've never discussed Clinton emails with Obama

Source: The Hill

"We've never discussed the Clinton case," Lynch said on "Fox News Sunday."

"I've never spoken about it with the president or really anyone at the White House. That's not the kind of relationship that I have with the people there, and it would be inappropriate to do so."

Lynch said Sunday that the president's endorsement of Clinton, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, does not create a conflict of interest for her or for the Justice Department — although she is an appointee of the president. The attorney general met with the president following his endorsement of Clinton.

"I don't get involved on whom the president endorses," she said.

"The investigation into the State Department email matter is going to be handled like any other matter. We've got career agents and lawyers looking at that. They will follow the facts and follow the evidence wherever it leads and come to a conclusion."

The attorney general works for the president, who is a member of a political party. That's just how it is.

If the people don't like the results, there are regular elections.

6. True. All public officials are obligated to serve the public interest.

Public officials have a dual life as private citizens and public officials. We call it a "public trust" that they will pursue the public interest over their private interests.

They can honor or betray the public trust.

The people can affirm or reject them in regular elections.

4. It isn't about "what emails were at issue"...

What is contained in the emails is certainly part of the investigation, but the email server setup and possible exposure of sensitive information to hackers and foreign governments is the bigger overarching problem. Obama may well not be aware of all the details.

When Holder was there, it could've passed for a retirement home. And now this sort of dismissive, matter-of-fact rein. Kinda like a "get-away" from their day jobs. "The president? Yeah - I know him."
