A new swing state poll brings good news for Hillary Clinton
Updated by Katherine Hicks on June 21, 2016, 5:10 p.m. ET
A new poll puts presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton ahead of or neck and neck with Republican Donald Trump in several key swing states.
The poll, conducted by Quinnipiac University, gives Clinton an 8 percentage point lead over Trump in Florida (47-39), as well as a tie in Ohio (40-40) and a minor lead in Pennsylvania (42-41). The Ohio and Pennsylvania results are both within the margin of error.
RealClearPolitics, which aggregates findings from multiple surveys, puts Clinton at a lead of 2.7 points in Ohio and a lead of 0.5 points in Pennsylvania still good news for the Clinton campaign.
The poll found that voters in each state believe Clinton to have higher moral standards, to be more intelligent, and to be better prepared than Trump to be president..................

How the F*** can Trump be polling that high? Is there lead in the water here or what?
It is embarrassing. It is the "Reagan Democrats" whatever that means. But I would note that 1) It's early, 2) Romney actually polled very competitively in Ohio in 2012 but lost by a healthy margin 3) If if the absolute-worst-case scenario occurred and Ohio went to Trump, FL and many of the other swing states seem likely to stay blue. Yes, Ohio is typically an absolute must win, but all the rules are different this year.
Frankly, I'm more worried about Ted Strickland beating Rob Portman than the Trumpster winning Ohio. Portman is spending gobs of money and strategically distancing himself from Trump.

(17,600 posts)Yes, Strickland beating Portman is very important. And Portman is savvy to distance himself from the Trumpster fire.

(14,564 posts)The republican party overtly appeals to the lesser tendencies in people to get them to vote for them, while overtly using every bit of their power to advance the interests of the monied.
It is not complicated.
It is that simple, and that clear.

(3,867 posts)South FL is definitely Clinton including Cheeto's 2nd home, central FL is mostly Republican & NW FL is definitely Republican.
If S FL really shows up to vote, we can carry it.
It depends a lot on what central FL does also. Gainesville (U of FL) is Democratic, the rest is pretty much Rep.
Count NW FL as trump country

(11,949 posts)Is more and more democratic. And while I hate what is happening in Puerto Rica it is sending more and more democratic voters into central Florida. Even Osceola county is turning blue.

(13,058 posts)Hillary Clinton. A dead heat in both Ohio and Pennsylvania? I actually find it shocking that a racist misogynist xenophobe can be tied with Clinton in two major swing states.

(72,790 posts)I dislike Hillary but I hope she wins the White House. Trump is awful.

(3,867 posts)why there is so much dislike of Hillary? In her early days, I thought it was because she is so smart, the statement "I'm not going to stay home & bake cookies" added to it. She does sometimes have a problem getting her message across, but boy is she coming through now! No question she is the most qualified.
Nancy Pelosi has a similar problem she is terrific.
