Forecasters Warn: Keep An Ear Out For Tropical Weather News This Weekend (Gulf of Mexico)

Source: Tampa Bay Times

National Hurricane Center forecasters were watching a large low pressure system in the Gulf of Mexico on Friday morning that they warned could become a named tropical storm in coming days.

Shower and thunderstorm activity associated with the system remained disorganized, but barometric pressures across the area were falling and conditions seemed to favor the formation of a tropical depression within a day or two as the system started to move slowly northward.

At 8 a.m. Friday, forecasters estimated a 70 percent chance that the system would become a tropical storm within 48 hours, and warned residents along the entire gulf coast to keep an eye on the storm through the weekend.

Our winds here in SW Ala are swinging to the E/NE, for the next couple of days.
So far those models in the graph above are pretty variable...time will tell.

the system is less well organized this morning than it was yesterday, because of wind shear and dry air in the region. A hurricane hunter flight scheduled for this afternoon may be canceled.
