House Republicans' report faults Obama on Benghazi attacks
Source: AP
Republicans on the House Benghazi Committee faulted the Obama administration Tuesday for what they said was a slowed response to help Americans under attack in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012.
Four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, died in two assaults at the diplomatic facility and CIA annex.
The panel's chairman, Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, said the panel's report, being released Tuesday, was not aimed at Hillary Clinton, secretary of state at the time. Democrats have said the goal of the report is to undermine Clinton's presidential bid.
Gowdy said Tuesday that the report documents that the U.S. was slow to send help to the Americans in Benghazi "because of an obsession with hurting the Libyans' feelings."

Looks like AP has updated the article with this new headline and lede:
House Republicans fault US military response to Benghazi
A report by the House Benghazi panel is faulting the military for its slow response sending resources to Benghazi, Libya, during deadly 2012 attacks on a U.S. outpost, despite clear orders from President Barack Obama and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta.
Republicans on the Benghazi committee released an 800-page report on Tuesday on the attacks that killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens.
The panel's chairman, Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina said "nothing was en route to Libya at the time the last two Americans were killed almost eight hours after the attacks began."
Gowdy said the Libyan forces that evacuated Americans from the CIA annex in Benghazi were not affiliated with any of the militias the CIA or State Department had developed a relationship with during the previous 18 months.

(16,254 posts)Surely, there is some way to get these clowns back to putting in an 8-hour day and accomplishing something rather than rehashing the "Get Obama" scenario they've been acting out since Day 1. I was hoping Gowdy would be censored for his incessant search for dirt where there was none.

(1,241 posts)the Republicans cut embassy spending for security. How convenient to drag this out until the elections. Hey Trey, you're so slick we didn't know this was just more corrupt right wing politics.

(314 posts)Ooops, oh wait, I forgot, this is the real world. Actually, Republicans pat themselves on the back for the Lebanon FAIL, then sweep their FAIL under the rug.
Not one Republican ever as much as made a peep about the massive Republican White House fuck ups that led to the death of 241 US Marines and other military service personnel. The Republicans really botched that one. Talk about Ignored Warnings.
Four dead in Benghazi and the Republicans lose their shit; 241 dead in our Marine Barracks in Lebanon, and they pretend Ronald Reagan is John Fucking 'Stay-at-Home' Wayne, and not one Republican emits as much as a sigh. How strange and dark is that?
RONALD REAGANS BENGHAZI
By Jane Mayer , The New Yorker - May 5, 2014
"...There were more than enough opportunities to lay blame for the horrific losses at high U.S. officials feet. But unlike todays Congress, congressmen did not talk of impeaching Ronald Reagan, who was then President, nor were any subpoenas sent to cabinet members. This was true even though then, as now, the opposition party (Democrats) controlled the majority in the House..."

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, who helped write the Republican report, told CNN that "too little effort was made to protect" Stevens and the others. "We didn't move Heaven and Earth to get help to the people who were fighting for their lives," he said.
Here's a promise. Jim Jordan - we will move heaven and earth to get you and your ilk out of our Congress....
Surely the military will have something to say about these accusations...without substance...as usual...
Straight DEM ticket..
So here we go, Yahoo reports this, but NY Times reports something different. I say we wait until the full report is released, and discount some bogus bullshit addendum but some half shit conservatives just wanting their name in the headlines.
Of course this committee is going to find the current leadership at fault. This republican committee was a bogus act from the start. The final asshole act of Bohner.

(14,179 posts)Did anyone really think the name Benghazi would go away even after the House Select Committee on Benghazi ended its investigation......finally?
The Republicans in cahoots with right wing media just cannot let go of it. Maybe its the word...Benghazi..so easy to roll off the tongue. And now that so many Fox news droids have the word so successfully implanted the Republicans just cannot let it go. Because they don't have much else.

(581 posts)It would show how incompetent Bush was and is. But the GOP tries to stay silent on George. Not wanting to mention him and his failures cause they played a role in what he done.
We could investigate 2 wars, 9/11, failed economy and jobs, high debt, just a few to list.
