RNC Spokesman: Comey Offered 'Clear Indictment' Of Clinton's Judgment

Source: Talking Points Memo

Republican National Committee spokesman Sean Spicer said Tuesday that Clinton's use of a private e-mail server was a "clear indictment of Hillary Clinton's judgement."

The findings of the @FBI are a clear indictment of @HillaryClinton's judgement and fitness to be President

Comey called Clinton's use of private email and the State Department's handling of classified information "extremely careless," but he still advised against prosecuting Clinton.

Spicer told CNN in an interview after his tweet that any other staffer at the State Department would have been charged . "Any other employee that works at the State Department that did what she did would have their security clearance pulled and would be facing charges," Spicer said. “This is absolutely ridiculous.”

"If she followed the law like everybody else and used a State Department account or used even a private system like the director pointed out like Gmail, this wouldn't be a problem," Spicer said. "She chose to set up a system for herself around the rules that were established for everybody else for a reason, and that reason is because she didn't want people to know what she was doing."

Axelrod: 'Fair Game' For GOP To Use FBI Comments To 'Question' Clinton

David Axelrod, a former senior adviser to President Obama, on Tuesday said that it's fair for Republicans to use FBI Director James Comey's comment that Hillary Clinton was "careless" with classified information against the former secretary of state during the presidential campaign.

"It is fair game for Republicans to question Hillary Clinton based on the words of the FBI director," Axelrod said on CNN shortly after Comey announced that the FBI does not recommend bringing charges against Clinton.

Axelrod noted that Republican National Committee spokesman Sean Spicer focused on what the FBI's findings show about Clinton's judgement.

"Sean Spicer took the words of the FBI director and used them as you would expect the opposition to use them and honed in on what Comey called the carelessness and recklessness and so on. That's to be expected," Axelrod said.

Ex-DOJ Spox: Comey Broke Rules With 'Outrageous' Presser On Clinton Emails

A former Justice Department spokesman under former Attorney General Eric Holder called FBI Director James Comey's press conference announcing he would not recommend charges against Hillary Clinton over her email servers "absolutely outrageous."

In a series of posts on Twitter, Matthew Miller said the FBI and DOJ are "supposed to speak in court," not press conferences.

Matthew Miller
@matthewamiller

Absolutely outrageous presser by Comey. DOJ/FBI is supposed to speak in court. If it won't make statements in court, it shouldn't make them.

11:18 AM - 5 Jul 2016

Miller also tweeted the presser was symptomatic of Clinton yet again getting "worse treatment than anyone else would."

He also suggested that Comey's announcement violated DOJ rules about disclosing information about ongoing investigations.

ok you can talk about Clinton Email situation, but lets also discuss this.....

Bush White House email controversy surfaced in 2007 during the controversy involving the dismissal of eight U.S. attorneys. Congressional requests for administration documents while investigating the dismissals of the U.S. attorneys required the Bush administration to reveal that not all internal White House emails were available. Conducting governmental business in this manner is a possible violation of the Presidential Records Act of 1978, and the Hatch Act. Over 5 million emails may have been lost. Greg Palast claims to have come up with 500 of the Karl Rove emails, leading to damaging allegations. In 2009, it was announced that as many as 22 million emails may have been lost.

The administration officials had been using a private Internet domain, called gwb43.com, owned by and hosted on an email server run by the Republican National Committee, for various communications of unknown content or purpose.

So let me get this straight, missing emails, private domain, server by the RNC.......hmmmmm now where have I heard this before...

When I said this to a Trump supporter who cited "Crooked Hillary's" emails, he said he didn't think much of Bush. Way to get out of his irrational thinking.

And he took the unprecedented step of injecting his personal opinion (to carry water for the GOP).

Here is the reality I see:

- she is not an IT expert; all she knew is that she needed secure, accessible email

- the state department did not offer the above

- she can't say it, but the state department funding is abysmal, which accounts for why they still had an email system that was not particularly secure or accessible outside the actual state department - pathetic, but that is reality

- the State department sever was definitely hacked; despite Comey's completely inappropriate speculation, there is absolutely no indication that her server was hacked

- as usual nobody (including Comey) seems to give a shit that Powell and Rice did the same thing. For some odd reason he did not have an opinion about their actions, just Clinton's

FBI Director Comey laid out for us why what she did was extremely careless and showed poor judgement, and there is a good chance if she was a low ranking state employee, her security clearance would have easily been pulled even though she may have not faced criminal charges. I don't think this is something to celebrate, or downplay the seriousness of this issue. Whether its Bill Clinton strolling onto AG Lynch's plane, or Hillary barely escaping indictment....its just another reminder to me of why we have two of the weakest presidential candidates in my lifetime. I think Hillary is an extraordinary human being, and one of the most qualified presidential nominees in history.....but she still needs to display exceptional integrity and sound judgement, and earn the right to sit in the chair. And even if she wins, I will be left with the nagging feeling that we deserve better.

Clinton has a poor understanding of email technology, you're gonna lose. If you make claims that Republican and George Bush appointee Comey is in the bag for Clinton, you're gonna lose. If the only way you can spin this is "the system is rigged", the system that you cons are a part of, you're going to lose. The fact that your party pandered to a manipulating griffter like Trump because you are abject cowards and were too gutless to call him out on his racism, sexism, bigotry and out right lying means you are going to lose. From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely hope the Republican party dies a horrible painful death

Unless they were going to round up Rice, Powell, et. al, (never mind Bush, Cheney, Rove and half of Congress) they'd do well to just Let It Be!

I love the fact that they're so "wet henny" about this matter. Anything that infuriates the GOP should make us very happy indeed.
