Clinton expands lead over Trump to 13 points - Reuters/Ipsos poll

Source: reuters

Wed Jul 6, 2016 12:24am BST

NEW YORK | By Chris Kahn

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton widened her lead over likely Republican nominee Donald Trump to 13 percentage points in a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll released on Tuesday.

The July 1-5 poll included responses gathered mostly over the holiday weekend, before the Federal Bureau of Investigation recommended on Tuesday that no criminal charges be filed against Clinton over her use of private email servers and what it called her "extremely careless" handling of classified information while she was U.S. secretary of state.

The presumptive Democratic nominee led Trump, a New York businessman, by 9 percentage points in a previous Reuters/Ipsos poll that ran from June 27 to July 1.

Tuesday's poll showed that 46 percent of likely voters supported Clinton, while 33 percent backed Trump. Twenty-two percent said they would not support either candidate for the Nov. 8 election.

No panels. No discussions about how devastating this is to Trmp.

MUST NOT INTERFERE WITH THE HORSE RACE NARRATIVE!!!

Same shit happened to polls good for Obama in 2008 and 2012, which is hpw the wingnuts became convinced Obama would lose both times.

national polls are meaningless. But they can make you feel good.

Don't freak out when national polls shift. They are mercurial based on the pollster and assumptions in the mix of people polled.

Take deep breaths, work to get your local candidates elected, support gotv at the top of the ticket if you can.

Look at poll averages, both at national and state level. fivethirtyeight.com has a satisfying tracker if you need a feel good fix.

It's true what you say about polls and, yes, fivethirtyeight.com is an excellent resource.

I will be glad when this is all over with.

You should be!

Tell others how excited you are about this election and how important it is to get every democrat to the polls in this historic election.

You'll be surprised how many people will come out and support democrats, simply because we have a very good chance of winning. People like winners and feel better when supporting a candidate that wins. Help them to fulfill that goal and we all win.

What's the alternative? Be a republican and hold my head in shame for all the ill I've brought on this country.

I have a good feeling about this November.

The Donald just said in North Carolina that he was winning the polls, that his poll numbers were really, really good. You know, like amazingly YUGE.

The poll must be rigged! Hahaha. Math problem deja vu.

After this week's campaigning with POTUS and Joey Biden, and the FBI's decision, I expect the numbers to be even better by next week. Hillary's on a roll!

Take the first chart in this article. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/election-update-swing-state-polls-and-national-polls-basically-say-the-same-thing/

It shows trump is up big.... In deep red states. But, he is underperforming romney by a big margin there. And hillary is actually leading in one.

But if you just look at that chart, with just the 2016 column, he could get the mistaken idea he is ahead.

It's just optics. When your optic nerve is connected directly to your asshole, it gives you a shitty outlook on everything.
